Old KRS-ONE On The Juice Crew Flick, "The Movie Kinda Collapsed"
The 4th Annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival kicks off next month with intentions of showing the next crop of rappers from BK and beyond. SOHH got a hold of legendary Bronx, New York rapper KRS-ONE to speak about his involvement in the event, feelings on the upcoming Nas album, if a Juice Crew film is still on, and much more.

Making his first appearance at the celebrated festival, KRS explained the excitement he had after hearing about being invited to perform and what else he has in store for the audience.

"The BK Hip-Hop Festival called-requesting KRS and when I heard it was the BK Festival, I was like 'Yeah! Let's get this party started,'" he told SOHH. "I would like to come there with the 'Stop The Violence Movement' and have workshops for the days I'm not performing."

While not going in to details about the songs he plans to perform, KRS said fans should expect his classics and even a couple of songs he's completed for his upcoming compilation album with Duck Down's Buckshot.

"We don't have a name-Buck was toying around with a name, Conflowsation," he revealed. "There's no official title yet, but I know the tracks we did is fire. We did like 12, 13 tracks and 9th Wonder is a beast. I'm really proud of the project. The album is brillant."

With Nas making headlines after his new "Be A N*gger, Too" video hit the net, KRS confessed his admiration for the Queens rapper.

"I love that album-that album titled N*gger," he pronounced. "He's not using it I heard. He backed away from it. It would have started a lively discussion. I commend Nas' scholarship these days. First Hip-Hop Is Dead-got everybody reactionary. Then you got N*gger with the 'e-r.' Ah man, it's good but as a scholar, that's right on point. That's right on time."

As previously reported by SOHH, a film portraying KRS and other members of the legendary Juice Crew was set to star Tony Yayo and Talib Kweli. However, both KRS and manager Morgan Wells say there have been rumors spreading.

"I talked to the director like two weeks ago and he said Tony Yayo is not playing KRS," Wells said.

"The movie kinda collapsed," KRS confirmed. "I spoke to Talib Kweli who was supposed to be playing Scott La Rock and I was gonna coach him through that but then the movie collapsed on his end. I spoke to Biz Markie yesteday 'cause the movie was supposed to be called The Vapors and asked Biz 'What's up'. I guess they didn't get the response they wanted. A press release was sent out that didn't have anything [confirming the production], but it got people hyped and support-but no money came with it. That's the last I heard.

Admitting he didn't hear Fat Joe's recent comments at Hot 97's Summer Jam saying, "There's God, and then there's KRS-ONE," the Bronx native reacted to his praise.

"Wow, he went out," he expressed. "You got a flow, Joe! [laughing] There's clearly love in his voice, I mean, Joe is my brother from the early days. What can I say, I'm humble."

KRS plans on having a busy summer as his Stop The Violence Movement is set to travel from city-to-city to spread awareness of the violence within communities and various events including a Madison Square Garden concert scheduled for August 26th are all set to begin soon.
