The people behind the Academy Awards claim they left Farrah Fawcett out of the Oscars In Memoriam montage this year because she was better known as a TV star -- which begs the question, how the hell did Michael Jackson make the cut?!?!

Bruce Davis -- the executive director of the film academy -- told the Associated Press both Fawcett and Gene Berry were more famous for their "remarkable television work" and would therefore be more appropriately honored at the Emmys.

So by that logic, Michael Jackson would probably be more appropriately honored at the Grammys right? Oh wait, he was!! Kinda contradicts your point, huh Bruce?

For the record -- Davis had no excuse for blowing off Bea Arthur and Captain Lou Albano, who starred in the theatrical masterpiece "Body Slam" back in 1986.

There is no excuse, so you're telling me t.v. actresses aren't members of the Guild? Shame on them, she was an Icon on the screen and for her time. Both her and Bea Arthur should have been included. All that studio money and they don't have a couple of seconds to spare yet the show is being broadcasted on the same t.v screen that Farrah's face graced? SMH

yeah that is totally weird. as far as i know...she DID do a few movies right after she left 'charlie's angels'. i think she did one with steve mcqueen and burt reynolds. so right there alone, that would qualify her for being a part of the oscars memoriam. weird.

They probably forgot about it...but let's be real, Michael was and always will be relevant in all forms of media while Farrah Fawcett had not been relevant for damn near 20 years. Plus her death was pretty much overlooked for much of 2009. It is what it is.

I heard that Farrah was a member of the academy, so she should have been included. Michael did receive a nomination in the Short Film category for "Thriller," but was not a member. I do think that he should have been included for his contribution to music videos as an art form.

However, omitting Farrah was an error on the academy's part. Someone should have caught this and taken responsibility, not pass the buck!

Farrah definitely should have been there, she made some powerful movies. There is no excuse for this bullshit.
