I can't remember when Rihanna and I first met, but I think it was near a dance floor and one of her tracks was playing. The thing I remember was her being a normal person, not what you'd expect of a young woman about to take over the world. She's one of the coolest, hottest, most talented, most liked, most listened to, most followed, most impressive artists at work today, but she does it in her own stride. She works hard, very hard. She gives to her fans, friends and foundation not just herself but her energy and spirit.
Rihanna, 24, goes out of her way to support the people she believes in. She is one of the few people I know in that world of fame and celebrity who aren't all about themselves. She'll give a real part of herself to an ordinary person she may meet, and that's rare.
This is the beginning for Rihanna — she has so much more to do and to give. She is just getting going, so watch out. She's the Barbados ambassador for youth and culture, and she's coming to a town near you.

Her success renews hope in me that the world I live in has good taste — that we still occasionally come back to what's simple, and simply amazing. I can't wait to hear what she does next.

Nice list but Pippa Middelton..... really.
How do they pick the people who discuss the folks on the 100 list. To be honest Pink and Stella seem really random to me. I'd think they'd get Jigga, L.A, or Ye to say something about Rihanna and one of Adele's close collaborators or the head of her label. Don't get me wrong Pink and Stella said great things about each woman but it just seemed really random and I guess not as personal. I just read Alyssa Milano's blurb about Pete Cashmore (creator of Mashable) and it sounded like what you'd read in a typical press release or NY Times feature. I didn't read as personal.

It does seem random but Stella McCartney and Rihanna are actually friends. And the Alyssa Milano/Pete Cashmore connection is probably because they're both big in social media (mainly Twitter), I'm sure they've met or interacted on a few occasions.

This sounds more like a popularity contest than most influential people. I'd STILL have Steve Jobs on that list, even though he has passed away. Tim Tebow - Jeremy Lin - Rhianna are most fascinating, not necessarily the most influential. Adele, Viola Davis - most talented. Let's not get it twisted. Pippa Middleton hasn't done a doggone thing but look good in a bridesmaid gown. Pleeeeeeeze. Has the media world become THAT superficial? Shame on Time Magazine, stooping to such levels to sell magazines.

Viola now has the ability to hookup a lot of upcoming black actors and actresses. Plus, the woman is one of a very few black celebrities who can appeal to white people because of her charisma and talent, like Oprah. If she doesn't become influential in Hollywood, it wouldn't be surprising to see her having her own major talk show and becoming a powerful media mogul.
