You need to drop the bible-thumping Jesus shit and start examining the pragmatic benefits of abortion:

1. A baby you abort today is a criminal you don't have to house 16 years from now.

2. A baby you abort today is one less mouth on the welfare tomorrow.

3. A baby you abort today is one less vote for democrats 18 years from now.

4. And if it appeals to you, statistically, an abortion today is most likely to be one less minority tomorrow.

That's four pragmatic reasons for a Republican to support abortion and secure the future of America.

Wow, I don't think I've ever heard someone say "support" abortion as opposed to pro-choice.

Anyway, coming from your point of view I can see what you are saying (not that I agree with it). But I never understood how somebody can be so adamently pro-life but opposed to social support. It's like when they wave the banner for "Support Our Troops", but are less concerned about when they return home with major trauma and mental disorders.

I don't think pro-choice goes far enough. Some women really need abortions and the government should do everything they can to encourage them to get one, if for no other reason than the gradual betterment of society.

Not part of the GOP....But maybe that's why the republicans support abstinence...i.e. don't have sex at all, hence no unplanned pregnancy and therefore society won't be burdened with #1-#4 (on your list) prevention instead of cure...

I am all for Pro-Choice but I do not want abortions to be on every corner and offered (and pushed) for anyone who does not live the whole white picket fence lifestyle...I have seen the perfect couple with the perfect liefstyle have children and 2 out of 4 are ADHD or autistic or just plain menace's to society.

Hopefully we don't try and control procreation as much as we already do.

Abstinence can be part of the overall plan, but you can't depend on it. The states with abstinence-only programs in their schools have some of the highest teenage birth rates in the nation.

Okay, since you're talking like that, are you also for mandatory sterilization for menfolk? Because there are a hell of a lot of dudes out there who are breeding and they shouldn't be. It's BECAUSE of some of these kniggas that women need abortions in the first place! What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

As an aside, as a super-liberal democrat, I'm pro-choice and all for the reproductive rights of women, but I don't think that shit should be state mandated. That takes away from the "choice" aspect.

Trust me, I realized when you said support abortion you really meant support abortion, and that is certainly different from a pro-choice POV, even though many pro-lifers try to make it seem like it is the same thing.

Like I said, abortion would just be part of an overall plan.

I'm all for the mandatory sterilization of both men and women who commit violent crimes. I've also supported the government subsidization of sterilization for people who have undesirable genetic traits such as a history of alcoholism, obesity, criminality, etc.

Should we give financial incentives to certain people for breeding?

However, I think that plan is a bit to extreme to be embraced by any significant number of people. I think getting people to support government subsidized abortions is as far as realistically possible.

I didn't say it would be state mandated. It would be state subsidized. Meaning, any woman who wanted an abortion could get one for free.

Abortions have been a woman's choice, like it or not, since women first were. Many indigenous women still use the herbs their ancestors used to abort when they feel they have to. Whether in backalleys or hospitals, women will continue to abort. Like it or not.

Our government knows what our society would become if we ever go back to making abortions illegal or more difficult to get. Don't fool yourselves into believing that those religious states are all against abortions. Some of them have very high rates of this procedure.

OP, kidding or not, has a point. If abortion isn't covered, our society would be at least 2x as worse than it is now. Think of the women who rely on government assistance (medical).

I'm not saying that I agree with a woman's choice or not, but it is that. Her choice. And she will be the one judged by God, not you or me.
