Here is a provocative, straight ahead, at times confrontational dialogue between Rev. AR Bernard and Thomas Weeks III regarding the entire Bynum-Weeks drama. It was recorded 1 week prior to the start of Weeks' trial. Although we all know how this debacle ended, it is interesting to hear how Weeks responded to some of the hard-hitting questions that AR Bernard posed to him. It is also interesting to see this interchange between to church leaders, and how Bernard was not afraid to call Weeks on the carpet regarding some issues.
This is part 2 of the interview, part 1 was somewhat redundant to what we've already heard and read in the media....The interview itself is about 25 minutes long.
I saw the interview and did not think he was hard on Weeks.
He asked questions that needed to be asked and Weeks answered them.
I have to give it to AR Bernard with asking tough questions. Even Bernard says that because he was a christian and a leader he his held to a higher standard and understanding while Weeks confirms. True, Weeks agreed to what Bernard was saying verbally, but we all know actions speak louder than words.
Why is it that other ministers, pastors and bishops who are committing adultery, fornication, manipulation, stealing and everything else can't own up to it instead of making excuses for misconduct? It certainly tells me that those making excuses for misconduct have serious heart issues. Yes, they definitely have heart issues and no fear of God. I also think many continue to engage in this sinful conduct, because NOONE is calling them out and/or holding them accountable for their actions.
I have to agree with Bernard when he said that with Weeks background of being a visionary and comes from a family of visionaries that he could not become a Dave Meyer (Joyce Meyer's husband). There's no way Weeks could ever have become a 'Dave Meyer', he tried it for two years and it didn't work hence the starting of the Atlanta church. Bottom line, neither he nor Juanita every had a clear understanding of what their marriage was really all about. It was never about, commitment, love, and family; instead cash, lust and fame seem to be more important to them.
In episode 33, most of what Weeks says inference to not have a written vision in place doesn't make sense. It almost seems as though he's been in denial. It's sad. I agree, even the look on Bernard's face read "come on man, do YOU really believe that?" Regardless of whether they had a written vision in place or not, if the vision and the destiny of the marriage were not in their hearts, words on a paper would have little or no value.
I have to applaud AR Bernard for at least stepping up and holding Weeks accountable for some of the decisions he made in his relationship with Juanita Bynum. It will be interesting to see if Weeks and his ministry ever fully recovers from all of this.
Weeks is a delusional mild mannered pussy whipped man
Watching this, I think he gave Juanita Balance to her fiery peronality. Weeks also seems to be more organized in thought than flighty Juanita.
The sad thing is many clips on youtube, show Juanita emasculating Weeks.
Weeks should have had sense enough to be her friend and not her husband.
Bernard looked at Weeks the same way most sane adults would.
You guys forget that Juanita gets speaker fees. She spends money faster than she gets it. The only answer for them is for her to have a piggy bank every week, I mean a church.
Pastors will alwyas have more money than traveling evangelists. The travelors have no base. So Weeks used his expertise and started a church
I am listening to the interview and what strikes me as odd is he says, "the Lord said to me," alot. If God said it, why didn't he also tell them they were headed for the rocks if they didn't do so-and-so? Between him and Juanita they say "God said," quite often but God never seemed to tell them about that infamous night in August. I don't know....what do you all think?
Remember what I fonted many times
If someone says the Lord told me, or God said, or Jesus whispered in my ear.
Get ready for the dumbest biggest crock of **** you ever will hear.
Those "3 nevers" sound kind of bogus to me too. I mean who is going to go into a marriage based on whether a mate verbally agrees to 1) never embarass publicly, 2) never cause failure, and 3) never (not) support their mate????? The fact that they only dated for a quick minute, is evident that the "3 nevers" were NEVER tested. I believe what a person demonstrates during the courtship/engagement, is what they will do during the marriage.
The 3 nevers gives you a clue that Weeks has had some serious issues in the past.
That man was crazy before he hooked up with Juanita. WHy do you think Juanita picked him.
I know some folks that go there and they are the silliest, never gonna get anywhere because they are following false doctine, folks i know. I do know Gary Anglin. Nice guy. Back when I was auditioning for Theater, a lot of my comerades where going to this church. Their behavior never change. (DOn't ask what goes on between sows at some theaters. All I have to say is the chorus of the Wiz, and another show died from AIds being spread during that break)
28,000 members. How are you getting the full services of the Pastor. There is more to Pastoring than standing there saying some flowery words.
Here are the buzz words that indicate PIMP from his bio
"Drawing on his beginnings in the financial industry, Bernard has built a familiar brand associated with positive, life-changing experiences and focused on customer service"
On one of these forums there was an indepth discussion of the use of customer services techniques to exploit the massess. Using business principles is sound in church management. To feature it in your Ministerial Bio makes one wonder what is his focus. To be a Pastor, or head of a Corporation.
Through his practical application of principles approach, and the successful leadership programs he has created, Bernard has become much in demand as a speaker by some of the leading "Fortune 500" companies,
In other words, he has been a motivational speaker who found religion. THere was a debate about ministers speaking at none religious venues. Fortune 500 is not goin g to allow him to talk religion. I smell something here.
Prompted by Bernard's influence as a life coach to many high profile individuals, People Magazine recently highlighted his bi-coastal study group, which remains well attended by celebrities, sports figures and entertainers.
I also smell something when he has 2 groups that the most sinful group of people belong to . Celebrities, sports figures and entertaines. These folks, which I am in the entertainment industry, will twist the word to validate their behavior in a minute.
I know ministers who have celebrities, sports figures and entertainers. in their church and never mention it. His mentioning in his bio makes me wonder what is his real motives. He seems to be promoting come and worship with Famous Record Producer. NY Giants go here. When Ministers get to involved in the celebrity life style, they are setting themselves up for falling into scandal. Look at Terry Hornbucle in Texas, serving 30 years for sexual molestation and drugging women. Look at Jamal Bryant who has a VIP section for the Baltimore Ravens and other VIPs.
I occasionally NEw Hope where Whitney Houston, LUther occasionally came, Ashford and Simpson, the band is touring musicians. I am not advocating New Hope, but i mention it to make a point. They never mention the fact that so many celebrities have historically belonged to that church. Sarah Vaughn (I hope you know who this legend is) was buried from that church. So if New Hope does not mention celebrities, why is he.
Walter Thompson in Baltimore has several Pro Ballers, Congressman, and other celebrities that belong to that church. CLINTON came to a service. Walther was the first , and only, Minister who had a service telivised on SPAN. If Walter does not t mention the President in his Bio, why is ARBErnard.
Chancellor Joel Klein's Cabinet of the New York City Department of Education. He has served as a member of the NYC Police Department Advisory Board for Courtesy, Professionalism and Respect, under the leadership of Commissioner Howard Safir. Bernard also served on Mayor Michael Bloomberg's 2001Transition Team of the City of New York
None of the above have a good record in the community he serves. And the fact that he was on Bloomberg's transition team. That really smells. Bloomberg has cut more vital services, ie daycare, youth centers. senior centers. and other social programs than anyone else in NYC. He is on the Board of the Police Department and the Board of Education, which is at constant odds with his community. That smells. And with so much involvement with High Profile glory seeking activities, how does he have time to serve his church?
And while the Minister is proud of these accomplishments and honors, he remains un-phased. He is pastoral by nature and does not view himself as a superstar nor a politician. Reverend Bernard believes his mission in life is to dynamically present and communicate the teaching of Christ in Culture. And whether it is world affairs, politics, pop-culture, the family, etc., he is determined to see and teach a practical approach to life, from a traditional biblical perspective.
Reverend Bernard extends his gratitude for the financial gifts that you have chosen to send in support of Christian Cultural Center.

The burning question to me is why does he have so much, no tax paying land in businesses, in New York City. It maybe in the hood. That is a lot of money the city is not getting. Most of the time they give them a hard time over it.
Since he was on Bloomberg's transition team, it makes me go hmmm.
The other things are observations about the political climate, and oppression of Black Folks, in NYC.
Armadoo Diallo, Sean Bell, and others show how horrible the police in nYC to innder city populations.
Bloomberg has created a NYC that is hard on the middle class and poor.
The Public Schools are horrible.
His association on the board of any of these is inapproproriate. We do not see him on the news trying to correct any of the in justicies. As a mattter of fact, since he is on the Board, shouldn't he be doing what Al Sharpton is doing, bringing public awareness to injustices.
With him being a puppet of Bloomberg, I wonder how his fellow Pastor's regard him. With him being on the Board of 2 of the most underserving agencies in our community, THe Police and the Board of Education, I wonder how his fellow Pastors think of him/
Floyd Flake was highly respected and used his congressional seat to help serve the poor. THis guy is not FLoyd Flake.
I am highly suspicious of Pastors who hold political appointed office. That is asking for corruption.

veman96054,
I hear what you're fonting; however, I have never heard Bernard teach false doctrine, no scandals and never read anything in the news negatively regarding him. Once upon a time, Eddie Long used to call him his spiritual father. This was somewhat earlier in Long ministry. Although he knows some of the pulpit pimps and some of them have ministered at his church and he at their churches, he never fails to clear up confusion in the body of Christ in reference to the prosperity message and other things as well.

CO-SIGNING!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!
When Fred Price came out with his Race, Religion and Racisim Series, I remember AR BERNARD calling him out and questioninghim as to WHY he was REALLY doing this series.
I definitely don't agree with Bernard's stand on everything, specifically he's approach to women in ministry, but I'd have to admit he does remain above the fray when it comes to pulpit pimping.

First of all, their marriage was never destined for success becuase, HE WAS MARRIED when they got together in the first place. She basically, stole a man from his wife. They were both loud and wrong to get together in the first place. I don't care what God told him or her, God is not going to bless what He never ordained in the first place. Yes they had passion, but they never had friendship or agape love, which honestly, is the glue that holds a marriage together in the tough times.
The sad thing is, they probably could have turned it around. But no marriage works with two heads. You can't have to HNIC's. That was the biggest problem.
