Re: A Question For LSA Writers: What is in Your Writing "Toolkit"?
Yeah, I want a typewriter, too. I love to type, but the Internet is too big a distraction. Plus with writing with pencil and paper I can sit or lie in any position and I can take my work with me anywhere I go. I know I can do that with a laptop, but with laptops it's easier for people to look over your shoulder at your work. I hate that!
Re: A Question For LSA Writers: What is in Your Writing "Toolkit"?
I write on my free time and I try to write as much as I can. Here's all the items, programs, and apps I use to get the job done:
A composition notebook, and any kind of pen.
Computer: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Works, Open Office, Text Edit, Celtx, and Adobe Story.
iPhone Apps: Notes, Write 2 HD, Celtx, and iWriteBook.
Apps and Programs to save my work: Dropbox, and my email.

I use the Dragon program as well! I write a lot of stream of consciousness stuff at the beginning of the process, and at random times of the day or night. Dragon has really helped my game; changed it completely.

I've recently downloaded Evernote to my smart phone. It's similar in substance I guess to Microsoft OneNote where you bascially collect all of your thoughts, ideas, inspirational texts/ images in one place and refer back to it all at your leisure.
Some books I always seem to refer back to at one point or another (in non particular order): "Bird by Bird", "Art and Craft of Poetry", "Handbook of Poetic Forms", "Backwards and Forwards", Strunk & White's "Style", and pretty much any work created by Adrienne Kennedy.

I agree. Dragon helps me get over the largest hurdle and that's procrastinating when I don't feel like typing. What makes Dragon convenient is I can be doing anything else and start talking the story etc. Then I can make adjustments if necessary but by that point I feel like I've already gotten so much done.

Awesome. So your a poet. I will look into the Evernote. Welcome to LSA.
I'm trying to get my "writing nook" together, and this would make a great addition to it. I have a couple of still-usable tower computers with flat panel monitors that I don't really use anymore because I'm always on my MacBook, but I'd hook this bad boy up to one of my desktops and use the hell out of it for basic word processing purposes!
Right now, though...for basic word processing on my iPad, there is a typewriter-like app called miTypewriter. I just don't really use my iPad for serious writing, so it's more of a novelty--although it does work with an external keyboard and it does make the typewriter keys sound.

I just got Scrivener...it's like One Note meets Dropbox, but it supports all types of writing....must buy!
Re: A Question For LSA Writers: What is in Your Writing "Toolkit"?
It's a lot at first, but if you're a heavy writer it makes things easier. Also google scrivener coupon code or literature and latte coupon code and you can get at least 20% off if you ever decide to buy it.
