When he first started showing the symptoms of Vitiligo and Lupus he thought he had skin cancer. In her book Latoya talks about how he suddenly developed a passion for medicine, spending hundreds of dollars at a time on old medical textbooks and befriending doctors. When he went to the Australian telephon in ‘84 the presenters found it unusual that one of his requests was to visit a bookstore where he purchased an old medical textbook about skin disorders. Even in the Glenda tapes in 91/92 he talks abot his health and medicine a lot. Symptoms (I’ve highlighted the ones Michael has publically been known to suffer from): * Achy joints (95%)
* High fever (90%) * Arthritis/ swollen joints (90%) * Extreme fatigue (81%) * Skin rashes (74%) * Anemia (low iron in the blood) (71%)
* Kidney problems (50%) * Pain in the chest while breathing (45%) * Butterfly-shaped rash on cheeks and nose (42%) * Sun sensitivity (30%) * Hair loss (27%)
* Blood clotting problems (20%)
* Fingers turning white or blue in the cold (17%)
* Seizures (15%)
* Mouth or nose ulcers (12%)
The reason he carried around those umbrellas? The sun sensitivity he suffered with Lupus and also because of his Vitiligo his skin no longer had any melanin and he would burn in the sun easily.

Treatment: There is currently no cure for lupus. However, there are effective treatments that tend to keep it under control. Lifestyle wise, those with lupus are encouraged to get sufficient rest, stay out of sunlight, maintain exercise, not smoke, and eat a healthy diet. There are also some medications that can be prescribed depending on the severity of the disease, including: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), antimalarial drugs, corticosteroids, and immunosuppressive medications.
Morbidity (# of people affected): Approximately 2 million in the US, although the exact number cannot be known. 9/10 of these are women, and affects more of the minority population. It is estimated that roughly 16,000 new cases are diagnosed annually. Mortality (# of deaths): Roughly 1,500 die before the age of 45 from this condition

So, the question is, why are none of the major news outlets covering this story? Why is nobody investigating these reports? I can only guess it is because the story of a superstar abusing drugs for recreation is a far more tantalizing story than a man suffering decades with chronic pain, insomnia, depression, anxiety, etc. and using medications to try to get through each day like hundreds of thousands of us do every day.
I for one can very much relate to balancing a fear for your safety and life with the desperation to ease the pain and suffering. Taking a little more medication than last time because you just have to get some relief and rest but being terrified that this time it would be too much.
If this is what happened to Michael Jackson, the world should know about it! Not only does he deserve the truth but it will save lives! And, even if his Lupus had nothing to do with his death, the awareness that could be brought to a disease that desperately needs it, while filling in a missing piece of the Michael Jackson puzzle would be world changing!

Lol. We've discussed this to death. We know he had vitiligo but those who thought he was lying before, now say that he caused it himself. Some things will never change..
I have concluded there are some people who just want to believe the worst. How many people who never suffered from any skin disorder have successfully turned whiter than white with the use of creams ?
A lot of people thought Michael didn't have vitiligo but it's been proven that he did. I always believed he had it. What I don't understand is why some are still desperately trying to prove him didn't. What is it, an ego thing? Are they afraid to admit they are wrong? It's okay if you're wrong about it. It's not the end of the world to be wrong, it's just human. Some of the excuses I've been reading from ppl trying to prove he didn't have it are so reaching that it's hard to take them seriously.

I think thats it.
The people that didnt believe he had vitiligo, now believe he self induced it by bleaching...even though many people bleach and they dont get vitiligo, somehow MJ was "lucky enough" to get what he wanted....white skin.
and what a coincidence he has lupus too, which also causes vitiligo...smh....th at man can do no right.
they just dont want to be wrong.
