Re: In Memoriam - Remembering Pets Whom Have Passed Away
My parakeet died in June. His name was Ben (short for Benjamin). He was 14 years old, had him around more than half my life. He was like my baby. He died because of a tumour. I went to the vet to check on him, see if he had gotten stronger so that surgery could be a possibility. But he was already dead. I cried a lot when he was sick but not so much after cause I knew it was for the best. He went from being extremely noisy, talkative and moody to listless and barely being able to stand. :(

Man this made me cry again :(.
Something I want to share with you two and all of those who have lost a beloved pet.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

This was sent to me by another pet owner, when my Nippy passed away. It made me feel better. I hope it will do the same for you as well. It's from this website...

Re: In Memoriam - Remembering Pets Whom Have Passed Away
I'm not a pet person but I have to admit I still miss my cousin's dog Shep. I took care of him when my stupid cousin went to jail for 6 months! He was the smartest dog ever.
He ran away one time and I was like awww sh!t! what am I gonna tell my cousin? He was gone for 2 weeks. He came back barking at the front door at 2 am. I opened the door and said where the hell you been at? He just looked at me and held his head down in shame. Word on the street was he had a bitch 6 blocks away.
Another time, I had my homegirl coming to the crib who was afraid of dogs. I'm like he is not going to bother you cause he sees that you are w/ me. I had him tied up in the back of the house. Homeboy got loose, charged at my friend full speed, and barking like a maniac. My friend went running out the gate like Flo Jo. I looked at him and said WTF?! I'm telling ya'll that dog started laughing..... then went back behind the house and sat down like nothing happened.
My cousin had to put him to sleep when his hind legs gave out. Shep looked so depressed that he couldnt get around anymore. I still miss him, damn you OP!

I had two mice when I was young - Milly and Molly. Molly died first of Kidney failure. It was so horrible because you could see the insides of her and was all bloody on the sides. Milly died suddenly most probably of an infection.
I had a lot of fishes that had died as well - Guppies, Platies, Swordtails and Goldfishes. That was probably about 50 or so fishes.

I too had a couple of ferret friends who died a few years ago. They were the best and got me through an extremely difficult time in my life.
Ferrets are such funny, playful little creatures who become so bonded to their families that separation causes them physical illness and sometimes death.
I can't finish reading this thread. It's making me cry.
