Re: In Memoriam - Remembering Pets Whom Have Passed Away
Oh this is a great forum and a great thread.
I have lost a dog and a cat.I think about them often.I miss how my cat would come and great me everyday, or whenever we would leave the house and come back.Especially when I would grocery shop, she would run up to the bags to see if I got her anything.lol

Re: In Memoriam - Remembering Pets Whom Have Passed Away
For Tabitha- I was three when we picked you out of a litter of flea-ridden pekingese/chihuahua mixed puppies in the projects where we lived. Animal control was coming to take a 15 of the dogs and we rescued you before the arrived.
You were tiny and feisty as all get out. would try to fight or bite any dog that came near. You never ate dog food a day in your life. Your favorites meals were spaghetti with meat sauce, Liver and onions, and vanilla ice cream. As our family became more successful, you reaped the benefits as well. new clothes, a bed (although you usually slept with us kids) to go in the home my mom and step dad were finally able to buy, and your own plate at thanksgiving. Yet, you never lost your sense of the hood, like the rest of the family, and constantly tried to stomp with the big dogs. Even though you were blind, when we took you for a ride you would still stand up in the window and bark if you caught wiff of another animal.
You lived all the way up to my first year in college. You lost your eyesight at age 11 and lived another 8 years before cancer and old age took you from us. One of your puppies, Chi-Chi, only died seven years ago in my mothers home.
You are the only dog we ever owned and I miss you so much. I was not there when you died but I cried and stayed out of class for a week. I think of you now and my eyes well up. You were not only family, but our best friend with four legs. You are the reason I am reluctant to get my children, your nieces, a dog. There isn't one that could ever fill your booties. Love you, tabby.
Thank you for this thread.Unless you are a pet owner or animal lover, you will never know how devastating it is when you lose your pet. They love you unconditionally, regardless if you are having a bad hair day or are bloated. They ride for you no matter what. They will give their lives at the drop of a hat. If they love you, there are no limits.
Sorry so long, guys... I need a tissue and a hug. :(

R.I.P.to Peaches (Oct.1, 2003-Aug.15, 2009) my beautiful pit bull. Despite her escaping several times, with me and my family chasing her all over the neighborhood and her tearing up my things because she was mad at me, I loved her dearly as if she was my child. She wasn't mean or vicious but very smart and loving. Sadly, she was put down last year and I cried so hard that I had my mother crying. I still miss her a lot. I will eventually get another dog but I'm still not ready and although it's been a year, the pain of losing her is still fresh.

RIP to Kana who was an adorable Shiba Inu. (1990-2005) My best friend forever and always. You were with me from age 3 to my high school graduation. Despite losing your eyesight and developing arthritis you never let those things bother you.
She died two weeks after I moved to America for school. I remember bawling on the phone with my Dad and Obaachan (grandma) for like 2 hrs and definitely missed a few days of classes because of it. I still have her picture in my wallet.
This is a great thread. Pets love us unconditionally and I love them for that.
Re: In Memoriam - Remembering Pets Whom Have Passed Away
RIP to the nameless fish that my mom made us throw over the hill. I watched them flap and sizzle.
RIP to Nerbi the Gerbi(l) My mom emptied a can of lysol over his cage and the next day he was dead.

I miss my Beagle Niki! We would be at a stoplight while she was riding in the back of our pickup truck. She would see a squirrel, jump out of the truck, run around the tree twice and jump back in the truck before the light turned green. She gave us alot of laughs!
