Was race a part of the criticism?
I just think these are both very different genres of music, but I slightly get the overrated attribution here.
I love Norah Jones music; she is a classically trained jazz musician who made that type of music very mainstream for a while. Like Herbie Hancock did for a minute, as well. I still think she is highly regarded, but shied away from being thrust in that overly hyped mainstream category. She's is most content playing on the road in a no-name lounge getting her glory. To me she is a true artist.
Adele is good, I think overrated, but still a good singer. Her album had nice songs that I really enjoyed.
