And I love how I can't have a different opinion or I'm not black. GTOHWTBS. People have been stealing songs and taking credit since people started writing them. That isn't exclusive to race.

I don't understand the need to claim something. It sounds so stupid. Unless you wrote it then nobody owes you credit just because you're black. The only people that are owed credit are the black musicians that created the songs. Adele doesn't have to pay any special respect or give credit to anyone because of the way she sings. Country music and pop was developed by black people? Yea right. I want to see the receipts.

The same thing happened with Michael Bolton who stole music from Sam Cooke. Most of Michael Bolton's songs were Sam Cooke rip offs. I will never forget these woman crying over him.

I had no problem with Michael McDonald of "I Can't Forget", Hall and Oates "Out of Touch", Johnny B. "Are You Still Down?"and Lisa Stansfield "Been Around the World" but they sang naturally and were not straining in their music. Teena Marie sounded like she was trying too hard sometimes. Her shrills irked me.

You should do a history lesson on music, you would be surprised at how much of an influence blacks have had on music. Society in general. The credit is very much deserving. Blacks had a huge influence on the creation of country, rock and roll, jazz and blues.

IMO this is not the point. I love any artist that can sing, regardless of their race. And I like artists like Adele. The issue to me is that people praise white artists MORE when they do soul music that black artists have been doing exceptionally well for ages. People are more impressed by white artists singing soul music than when black artists do. It's like a modern day version of white covers of "race records" so that the masses will accept the music...

Idk why you even responded to that poster b/c they were clearly looking for excuse to bash Black women. His little tangent made no sense and had nothing to do with the topic. No one even hyped up any white male singers in the thread.

Black people invented rock music and it bugs me that rock(I'm naming only that genre right now but we all know Black people invented so many other music genres that whites have stolen) is not portrayed as Black. All I see are white "artists". It is to the point where you would think whites are the ones who created it and that's not so. They capitalized on it, take credit while simultaneously shutting Blacks out. Like they've done with everything else. It burns me up. We gotta take what is ours back.

Everytime I hear an amazing guitar riff or any rock song I hear, I can only think of Black people.
