She is my all time favorite Old Hollywood actress. She was as real as they came, and had no problem reading bitches for having no talent (like she did Marilyn Monroe)

Marilyn was just starting out in pictures, was very inexperienced, and intimidated by all the talented actors/actresses she was working with in All About Eve. She had a scene to do with Bette, and everyone became extremely frustrated with her because she kept forgetting her lines-they did 11 takes. Between one of the takes, Bette was talking to someone else loudly near Marilyn and said: "That little blonde slut can't act her way out of a paper bag! She thinks if she wiggles her ass and coos away, she can carry her scene---well, she can't!!" Marilyn was so upset she went to the bathroom to vomit after her scenes with Bette.
