Brandy sounds like a completely different singer.
How do you know that Brandy smokes? Where is your evidence? And, Brandy does not sound like a completely different singer to me. I've heard the progression of her voice throughout the years and it sounds like maturity, plain and simple.
And, those singers do NOT sound the exact same way they did when they came out. I'm not about to go through and post all the videos. Furthermore, they weren't teens when they came out. I'm through. You can have your opinion. I just came to post what Brandy actually said.

The point I was making was Whitney and brandy have the same ailments and it seemed shady brandy is acting like her voice is better than ever when it isn't. She sounds dry and hoarse and Whitney had the exact same issues.
I'm not trying to shade brandy I just think its hypercritical and out of line for her to make the comments she did. The whole theory that Brandys voice changed due to her growing up isnt the reason. She smoked out her chords and sounds like a completely different person. It's not my fault and I don't think what I'm saying is shady. The fact is the girl lost her vocal appeal and should not be critical of any one else that has.
The "back and forth" as you put it is just me responding. I can respond with my opinion right? Your point is well-taken and your opinion respected.. I just have a differing one. 'Tis all. I don't see why Brandy has to "shut up" just because she doesn't sound the same as she did when she hit the scene (for whatever reasons). TO ME, it still doesn't diminish her opinion and the truth of the matter.
Re: Brandy talks about Whitney losing her voice on Piers Morgan.
To me, it's not so much the vocal distance between Brandy and Whitney that matters as the artistic difference. As one of the more perceptive writers said after Whitney's passing, quite often the Sound that is the most pretty is not the most artistic or the most moving. That's why I love Whitney's last album the most, because she's a greater artist and a deeper person on that than she could possibly have been earlier. She was always going to be a great singer, if she could sing at all, because of her command of the nuances of singing, period. Given a little more time, extensive rehab, a different environment free of enablers, and the right material the albums she would be doing now would be BETTER than the earlier ones. Would she sound the same? No. Would she sound great? Yes. Dylan is an example of someone who simply does what he does and makes his audience come along with him. As he says, any older fans who don't like what he is doing now are replaced, in any case, by new fans that discover him and don't have the same expectations. Whitney is that kind of artist too, who can sustain greatness AS AN ARTIST regardless of age. Billie Holiday was that kind of an artist. Brandy is not.
Re: Brandy talks about Whitney losing her voice on Piers Morgan.
My argument is not of Brandy's sound, longevity or any of that. It's more of Brandy's right to say what she said. I just don't see where she was "throwing shade" and shouldn't have the "right" to speak on Whitney. We all could hear that Whitney did not sound the same, but we all also knew that, as @farwest44 said, with rehab, training and rediscovered discipline amongst other positives, Whitney could reclaim her place or create another place in the music industry -if she so desired. Whitney was just that great and in a different stratosphere than any of the other singers in this present day and time. Noone is comparing - at least I'm not - because there is noone to compare to Whitney. She was and is in a class all by herself.

well i dont quite get ur point because my comment was brandy should not be the person talking about losing her voice because brandy lost hers. and we both agree brandy lost her voice, due to age or smoking like a chimney the sound is no longer there. so her comments struck me as odd and shady. i also didnt say brandy should shut up i just think the way she responded saying whitney losing her voice probably drove her insane and agreeing with piers as far as whitney losing her voice was wrong.
in essence what brandy was saying is whitney lost her voice and could no longer sing. but i think whitney had some vocal setbacks she would eventually get past. brandy was totally in the wrong for just dismissing whitneys voice as it it died before she did.

and my argument is brandy has alot of nerve making those statements about whitney when her voice sounds like it does. brandys comments were whitney was probably going insane because she lost her voice and could not hit notes anymore. she agrees with piers when he called her inability to hit those big notes a shocking blow and how crushing it must have been for whitney. brandy follows up with saying when she does not have her instrument she has lost a part of herself. which is to suggest whitney losing her voice was so upsetting to her she was a different person.
first off whitney could still sing. she was hoarse as all hell but the woman could still sing and the comments brandy made sounds like whitney was mute. further more how high whitneys voice went would never take away from the magic of whitneys voice because her sound was still present and over time she would most likey get her volume back.
i understand you feel as if brandy can state her opinion and i get that but i want you to get i think the comments were shady and hypercritical. on whitneys worst day she could sing circles around brandy.
Re: Brandy talks about Whitney losing her voice on Piers Morgan.
This thread is stupid. Why are people co-signing that Brandy "lost her voice" when she can hit the same notes she always hit? I even posted a video of her blowing, but I shouldn't be surprised that evidence and facts get ignored in favor of a poster's topic or insistence as if it's the gospel truth.
Re: Brandy talks about Whitney losing her voice on Piers Morgan.
I've never seen so much Brandy hate before. Is it because these are Whitney stans? Brandy didn't bring up Whitney -- she was asked. If you were in the entertainment business and had a close friend in the same business who was legendary and passed away, you'd get asked about it too. Why shouldn't Whitney be discussed?

Of course no one sounds the same they did 10, 20 years ago....brandy surely don't sound like that sweet, 16 year old from the 90's..she hasn't since cinderella days, just like Usher. That doesn't mean they sound bad now just mature

Honestly, Brandy will not admit the truth. I think Brandy lost respect for Whitney in the later years of her (Whitney's) life because of the image most of the public had of Whitney concerning her drug use.
Brandy was no different from most of the people who use to associate with Whitney back in the day. A lot of people distanced themselves from Whitney when her image became less than perfect.
Before Whitney died a lot of people wrote Whitney off as a "crack head" and a washed up singer but the moment she died people who have not associated themselves with Whitney in years all of a sudden want to show how much they really cared about her.
Bobbi Kristina told the truth, where were all these people when she (Whitney) was hurting....Brandy is using Whitney's death for attention.

You have some good points. I think she really loved her but the problem with Brandy IMO (humbly) is the events that happepned to her. Starting with lying about her marriage. Then the accident which as quiet as it is kept the poor woman was hit by two other cars before Brandy hit her), I think that and the drop in record sells did it.
There probably was "professional jealousy" because no matter what Whitney sold albums. She could do it. She was just exceptional gifted she and MJ.
Singer/actress Brandy and her brother Ray J pictured above at the 4th Annual Ne-Yo And Compound Pre-GRAMMY Midnight Brunch in Los Angeles on Saturday (February 11).
Ray J, who was looking very somber at the festive event was pictured trying to reach his close friend Whitney Houston at her hotel earlier in the day, only to be turned away (VIEW PHOTO) . As reports of her death began to trickle through media outlets, many of Whitney’s friends and family rushed to the hotel to see if it was true. For the past couple of years Ray and Whitney have been rumored to be a couple, but both denied this.
In related news, it was Brandy’s 33rd birthday and they were seen with sparklers throughout the night at the event.
Somber? Ok. That's it then. Most folks I know would have skipped this.
GMAB!

Yep, I believe this is true... not just her disgusted facial expression when whitney approached her and Monica w/Clive at the PGG rehearsals but even when Brandy did DTWS back in 2010. Remember how she would always bring whitney's name up in order to garner votes and even had Ray J go to Atlanta to kiss whitney's ass and she ended up doing that promo video for Brandy, like a background piece they do for celebs on DWTS... I had an uneasy feeling about that. It's like you couldnt call whitney yourself or approach her directly but you get Ray J to kiss whitney's ass and ask on your behalf?? WTF... I rolled my eyes at that. That was the time whitney drove her red corvette convertible to some fancy restaurant in ATL to meet Ray J. This was like few months after the NBL tour ended. Also, remember Brandy's partner Max (the tall Ukrainian dancer with the stache and beard) would always chuckle or joke whenever Brandy brought whitney's name up like to imply whitney's a joke or she's a crackhead. The last time Brandy brought whitney's name up Max made a joke and even Brandy smiles/chuckled. Pathetic... she was just using whitney to get votes but she was voted off anyway and Jennifer Grey won that year. Sucks for Brandy!! lol.
