Whitney Houston's mother Cissy is deathly afraid Bobbi Kristina will die like just the singer -- in a haze of drugs and other bad influences -- which is why she wants to withhold Bobbi's multi-million-dollar inheritance, sources tell TMZ.

Sources close to Cissy tell us, Cissy feels Bobbi is currently surrounded by numerous negative influences -- including her boyfriend Nick Gordon and father Bobby Brown -- who will drain Bobbi's fortune given half the chance.

We're told Cissy also feels 19-year-old Bobbi is still extremely impressionable right now -- and if left unchecked with millions of dollars, Bobbi could end up going off the rails ... eventually dying just like Whitney.

According to sources, Cissy wants to wait until Bobbi has matured significantly more before she gets her money ... an estate estimated at $20 million ... though it's unclear how long she wants her to wait.

As for allegations Cissy is trying to withhold Bobbi's fortune to hoard the money for herself -- Cissy is telling friends that's total BS ... that's it's about protecting her family.

As we reported, Cissy and Whitney's sister-in-law Pat Houston filed a request this week to modify Whitney's will -- in order to change the distribution schedule of the estate.

As should be, that hanger on Nick is bad news, but Bobbi Kris was a handful before Whitney died. She brought that car for him, he wrecked it, and he flashing guns in front
of cameras, he wants her for what she has, and she needs to know the difference, and take her ass to college and learn something.

Can she do that? I understand wanting to protect her but I don't know how I feel about this. Maybe if they let her get half now and put the other half in escrow until she turns 30.

They should have set a trust , not only for the tax benefit but they protect the money and they can make sure she is not going crazy with the money.

I don't know about that dramatic title but I think Cissy is rightfully concerned about the welfare of her granddaughter. That much money in the hands of a young woman who is grieving and still finding her place in the world can be dangerous. I just hope they all work it out.

A distribution schedule sounds very reasonable, she should benefit from it now... but no way should she be given half at this time.

Wonder what terms that greedy ass heffa Pat is trying to modify on the schedule already in place?

I was on board until I saw Pat Houston's name. I think Cissy's intentions are legit, but I don't think Pat's are.

That's why wills that leave a huge sum to someone who is relatively young should be on a set schedule. 10% at 18, 20% at 21, 30% at 30, etc. That would lessen the likelihood of someone blowing throw a huge sum.
