Re: Acne Scars
I think it is only OTC hydroquinone products which are affected.
Which to me makes sense, because a product like that I really think people need to seek professional advice as to whether it's suitable for them.

Re: Acne Scars
It's both otc and prescription regardless of the percentage. You can google hydroquinone carcinogen.

well, i apply it as soon as my pimple goes away to keep it from scarring. and it works. it actually takes about a couple of weeks (but for me, i was habitually rubbing maderma on it several times a day. on the directions, it tells you to do that)....and i don't know about anybody else, it helps because i don't wear makeup during the day when i go to work, so i apply maderma morning, afternoon, and twice in the evening...
i don't know if you saw in the other thread i made....but i actually was burned last week from getting an eyebrow waxing....after 2 days, it scabbed and peeled off. so i kept applying maderma and rubbing it in like 4 times through out the day, and thankfully, there is no scar under my brow! you can't even tell anything happened to it.

Yes, hydroquinone may be a 'potential' carcinogen, but so are a lot of other common substances. I have not seen any studies that prove that it is a carcinogen if it is prescribed and applied according to proven guidelines. But again, it's a chemical, so one should always be careful.

LOL don't shoot the messenger, I'm just putting the information out there. Anything you put on or in your body is up to you. It was banned in many other countries before research even got started here, so what does that tell you? Would the FDA & all those other countries ban something that's safe? I personally stopped using it because of that, but if you don't more power to you. Treat it like a cigarette and gamble.
