Re: Getting rid of acne scars
I personally don't want to you any bleaching or lightening creams or pills... what about natural remedies. I read about lemon juice and baking soda but never tried it.

Re: Getting rid of acne scars
I've recently become interested in holistic medicine. According to my book Zinc taken 100mg per day will combat acne. Give it a try!

Re: Getting rid of acne scars
I'm in the same boat as the person who gets one pimple at a time on the cheek. I went through my teens no pimples at all with perfect clear skin. Now every month during the week of my period I get one very large pimple on either cheek and it always leaves a black mark. It doesn't just go away like a pimple should.
What I use for rapid fading is a combo slathering pure vitamin e oil, alternate with cocoa butter lotion and directly on the spots I use

a retin a gel. I am fiercely illergic to hydroquinone. I put it on my face and anywhere it was it darkenend my skin 100x's more than what it was. Obviously other suggestions work like encouraging skin turnover through exfoliating. Using what I described I see lightening of the dark marks within 3-5 days and by a month there almost nothing.

I do something similar to this. I put on lemon juice then wait about 20mins and put on the vitamin e oil. I do this about 4 nights a week. I notice a slight difference but I think because my skin is light it going to take time to completely get rid of my spots.
I use olay cleansing cloths too their really great. I only hate that you only get 30 in the pack but they work great at helping lighting dark spots. I mostly use them on the days I wear makeup.

There absolutely is...over exfoliating the skin (especially if you're acne-prone) will irritate the skin and cause it to break out. Nobody should ever scrub their face like they're scrubbing a pot, rather, use an exfoliating cream (with glycolic acid) every other day OR a mild scrub (like Philosophy's Microdelivery Scrub) every other day...just so your skin has an opportunity to rest.

Re: Getting rid of acne scars
I found the Murad hyperpigmentation gel to work for me, but it didn't work for you :( I also have this lemon and teatree blend that I used to use on spot acne to prevent it turning into a scar...

Re: Getting rid of acne scars
I've started the lemon juice technique but I don't have any vitamin E. Any brands out there that I should look for the next time I'm in the drugstore?

You can get Spring Valley Vitamin E Capsules @ Wal-Mart. They're filled with Vitamin E Oil. You just puncture the capsule & apply the oil wherever needed, or to moisturize lips, etc. For acne scars, lemon juice is good, which you've already tried. You can also apply aloe gel, for fading/healing. And of course remember to drink lots of water, b/c it's considered to be the best natural method to treat the acne scars and heal them naturally. Water sheds the dead skin cells and makes the new skin to grow and hydrated. Hope that helps!

Scrubs are for floors, not faces. All they do is tear up your skin. Cleanse with Clinique "Extra" Mild Facial Soap (bar form), Clarifying Lotion #1, never #2 no matter what the Clinique Reps say. And most importantly bite the bullet by investing in this cause you'll see results overnight, I did & so did my son:
Advanced Night Repair
Protective Recovery Complex
Yeah the price is a bitch, $46.50 but the stuff works! My son has been fighting acne for years, been to derm drs, used all kinds of products, the whole 9 yards. I gave him this & out of desparation he used it & was pleasantly surprised to actually seeing "healing" of his skin overnight. And each day his skin has become more clear & healthier looking. Now I am not a fan of Lauder's skincare, but I gotta give them their props, this product is the bomb diggity! It's not even advertised for acne but works on any skin type with any problems. Need more proof? Go to makeupalley.com & check the reviews on this product. Only use this at night, not 2x daily cause your skin may become sensitive, but once at night after cleansing then apply Clinique's Moisture Surge on top since acne prone skin still needs moisturization or it'll over produce oil if skin is too dry.
You ask what will it do? Makes skin clearer, even toned, healthier looking, & brighter (not lighter). You can't lose. Macys will have Estee Lauder gift time starting March 10th, buy it then in the store or from Macys.com & receive your free cosmetics samples, that'll give you more bang for your buck.
Now here are the no-no's: No sodas, fried foods (here's where my son screws up, he can't leave fried foods alone), chocolates, acidity fruits. And the please do's: drink lots of water everyday, 8 hrs of sleep every night, & drink milk.
Get back to me & let me know how you make out. Sorry for the long response.

Re: Getting rid of acne scars
Hi Sassy - thanks for your suggestion!
One thing I stay away from is soap - no matter how mild. My skin gets tight and extremely dry and starts to peel if I use soap.
I am using a very mild cleanser right now by Roc and it seems to be working.
I'm nowhere near a Macy's but I will check the local department store here in Toronto.
THANK YOU!
