being that I work in this field... black women becareful... they test over and over and over again on non black skin but people dont do enough research when it comes to ours, and women are messing up their skin... if you have nice skin leave microdermabrasion alone or you are going to be sorry... stick with facials... we do microdermabrasion in my office along with facials and I recommend facials for black women... micro is way to harsh because you are basically sand blasting the top layer of your skin... not necessary...
facials will do you good as long as you go to someone who has black clients, because that means they are experienced with our skin... trust me, ive seen too many women mess their faces up doing unecessary stuff to it...

I had this done last year. Unfortunately, it did not rid me of my acne. The nurses at the facility told me that results would not be visible with the first treatment and that a succession of treatments would be needed.
Girl, if you do decide to have this procedure done, don't have such high expectations as far as the results are concerned. I was extremely disappointed when the procedure was over and I looked in the mirror and saw that these freakin' blemishes were still present.
With the Parisian Peel, recovery time is not needed. You can have it done and return to your normal daily routine.
You may want to start by visiting a local dermatologist and get your questions answered in greater depth. Also you might want to jot your questions down when you go to speak with the doctor.

I have blemishes on my face too and I refuse to let any of these women get their hands on my face... the blemishes came from doing laser treatments and it left dark scars... their telling me to do microdermabrasion to get rid of the dark marks... my ass... thats what I wont be doing... it takes at least 10 treatments of micro to notice a difference but what is your skin gonna look like after all that scrapping? there has to be something better... you should definately talk to a dermatologist

But see I went to the dermatologist and I got the business....clyndamy cin, erethromycyn topical (sp), the pills, benzyl peroxide 5%. Now honestly the benzyl peroxide wash does work followed up by using a soap like ivory, also I think you need an astringent to get the rest of the grease off that all the washing will not get. Also he gave me hydroquinone and tretenion. Sometimes it just seemed like it was too many medications for what was not that serious of a problem. But doctors sometimes like to over medicate people, I donno. But all of these medications in a nutshell are what proactive iz.

mine isnt acne..mostly a few spots from previous acne..not major
Go buy SHA souffle which is a alpha hydrox with glycolic acid cream that works wonders. Its kinda expensive but its really worth every penny. You use small amounts and it shows results in like a week.

i guess it depends. i'm half asian, and my mom, especially nags me about beauty and keeping my skin clear. i did dermabrasion, where they use a vaccuum of crystals, and afterwards, my face/ neck, declotte, felt and looked like it was airbrushed. literally, anything that touched my face just glided...it was that silky smooth right after the procedure. down time was only about an hour for me. don't really have a problem with acne, but i break it with a few pimples on my fore head once a month. every time i go see my man i get it done...it depends, everyone's skin is different though. drinking lots of water all day helps, and i use a retinoid at night

I've had micro twice, it was nice. Left my skin feeling very soft and re-nenewed. I dont think that they claim that it clears acne though.
However, I use ProActiv, and it works for real! It really does! I break out as soon as my cycle comes around, every single month. But Since I have been using ProActiv for the past few years it has TREMENDOUSLY helped my skin! BIG TIME! I don't know what I would do without it now!!
Also, has anyone here tried Vitamin C serum? It's comparable to Glycolic acid, but I don't think it is as harsh, or expensive. I have tried it, and it works real well too! Only thing is, it's not cheap. It runs about $30-$40/bottle. But I can attest to the fact that it makes the skin feel like butter!

definitely, i agree....dermabrasio n does not clear acne...in fact, any good esthetician would tell you to NEVER get the procedure done when you're broken out, because it can actually make the acne spread and then your face will really look worse...it's really supposed to resurface the skin and encourage cell turnover, thus making spots, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, scars look less visible. people who really get it done have to do a series of treatments, but for me, i only get it done when i am getting ready for a special occasion because it really gives you that "red carpet" look and make my skin baby soft...it's GREAT!
