I'm in the process of starting a new business. I want to try google voice out but I'm afraid that customers will be able to tell it's a google number and think my business is unprofessional.

So how do you feel about business owners with google voice?
Are you less likely to use their service?

It makes me feel like its an automatic scam.

The only reason I say this is because all of the craigslist and email scammers use Google Voice

If you set up your voicemail and stuff I don't believe anyone can tell you are using google voice.

I think it would be fine for a new business. Once you get established you can pay like $10 to take your number with you to a phone company.

Not at all. It's convenient. It tells me I can reach you at the same number no matter where you are.

I have a google voice number and have a personalized voicemail for that number but it gets forwarded to my cell phone. No one knows its a google voice number unless I use the automatic voicemail that is set by google. I give it out to people all the time even family.

it's possible to tell if someone is using google voice, but unless you're using the default voicemail pretty much no one would know.
