What type of careers would allow you to have visible piercings and tatoos? I want to major in marketing and get into advertisment and I'm sure they would not allow

Im not sure myself. I guess as long as they are covered up, you're good. I see loads of young people with HUGE tats and tons of visible piercings. I'm sure most of them have some sort of job.

Re: what careers allow piercings and tattoos??
Depends on the particular tattoo and the piercings. I have some--and I'm a lawyer (and yes, I have a legal job). I have a small tat on my inner ankle and have a small one on my finger (but they are pretty small and not super noticeable...and that was by design due to my career goals). And, I have 3 holes in each each (two sets of normal ones, one in the upper ear, and one tragus). Clearly, my navel piercing isn't shown at work.
At my firm, there was an administrator (not a lawyer, but an executive for one of the departments) and her legs are tatted up--I actually asked her about them. She said she didn't start showing them until she'd worked there for a while and proved herself. (But, she's also white...dunno if "others" could get away with the same gratuitous tats that she has).
I think if they're visible but covered up, you're fine. I mean, who's going to see a tramp stamp, right?
But if you have a tat on your neck, that's a no-go for most careers. (Emphasis on CAREER, not JOB). If you have half your face pierced, you may want to take some out while at work.

ITA. It depends on where they are and what they are. People I work with (DOJ) have tats, tongue rings etc. but they cover them up or they are minimal so you may see it but it's not overpowering.
