Recently tried to have an open dialogue with someone at the office re: workplace issues but instead they snapped and got out of pocket in front of our coworkers. Thankfully no one has lost their job but now I have to continue working with this person who I now know hates me and wants me gone. I'd really appreciate any tips/advice on strategies to use when dealing with them in the future, aside from doing the obvious and quitting.
just ignore them (outside of being cordial and professional) and do your job. sounds really basic but in reality, it is your only option. leave the situation alone, do not discuss this person with any other coworkers and move forward
NO!!! YOU DON'T QUIT!!! Whenever this "issue" comes up again - I would remind them about the how they acted a fool when you tried to have an open discussion regarding workplace issues.....hopefully the co-workers who witnessed this have your back, because the next time it happens, I wouldn't hesitate to go to a supervisor and report that YOU can't do YOUR job because you are dealing with a fool!
be cordial. idk how big your workplace is but i would still walk in and say good morning, have a good night in general. in e-mails be professional and to the point. i wouldn't intentionally ignore them especially if we have to work together or frequently see each other. it can make you look hostile.
Thanks for all the feedback. It's really hard working with the enemy but then again no matter where you go there will always be that one person who makes it their mission to try and get rid of you. At least now I know exactly who I'm dealing with!
