In the last two weeks well less than two weeks when walking I've been experiencing this horrible low back pain. It's in the middle and goes towards the left side of my body. It's only when I walk which is strange it got so bad to the point where I felt like I was having shortness of breath and could barely stand. I immediately went to the doctor. When I went they tested me for diabetes/kidney problems. Both came back clear. Then she had me do some stretching exercises and I was fine of course because it only comes when walking. So she gave me some medicine for like a muscle spasm I have been taking them, but they seem to only dull the pain. It's not as bad as it once was but it's still pretty damn bad. I know this is not normal. So I'm going back to the doctor Thursday I was wondering if you guys may have had similar stories or know of anything I can bring up they might can test for or what could it be?

Re: Lower Back Pain
It could be a herniated disk. Some docs call it a bulging disk since it is literally bulging/pushing into the nerve (which is the cause of the pain).
If it's a herniated disk, it can only be properly diagnosed with an MRI. HD does not show up on X-rays.
Physical therapy should help get your disk back into alignment.
Advil PM will help alleviate the pain, in many cases. (A lot of docs offer Vicodin, but it's potentially habit forming and makes most people too drowsy to drive.)
Steroids or surgery are usually the last options considered, unless you have a really bad case.

to test for a slipped disc, they will tell you to lie flat on you back.
then while your leg is straight, they will raise it up to 90 degrees.
if you have a shooting pain down your leg its a slipped disc.
usually happens in your 40's.
the way you describe it, going towards the side points
more towards muscular pain though.
Just an update went to the doctor and she really thinks it's a muscle spasm. I just have to give it time to heal.
But it's also a good thing I went I end up finding out something else was wrong that I didn't even know so I guess going to the doctor can be a good thing! I have a couple more appointments but hopefully everything turns out alright!

Yeah I was about to say that, sounds like a muscle spasm. I have the same problem but I was born with spinal stenosis. You may want to also see your gynechologist as well to make sure you don't have an ovarian problem.
However, my question is, you said something about shortness of breath?

What's your platelet count?
I'm going tomorrow so they can look at my ovaries actually. My back when walking has actually got alot better but it's still a dull pain and shortness of breath, sometimes. I'm not out of shape, I went to the gym regularly up until my back pain. So that's how I knew something was really wrong. At one point I was out of breath walking just two minutes from one class to another.
