Provera

Has anyone taken this? What side effects have you had? I had been taking Yaz for about 2 years and my periods completely stopped this past year. My doctor just took me off them and prescribed another bc pill. He also gave me a prescription for 5 days of provera to help start my cycle back. BUT reading the stories on the internet have me scurrrrrrred now. Now I'm thinking about waiting it out to see if it will start naturally.

Provera is not good for long term usage. I wouldn't worry to much if you're on it only for a couple of days. I hope it helps you regulate your situation.

Too many side effects...I gained about 15 pounds in 2 months and I had a pretty active lifestyle. It also gives you terrible mood swings and decreases your libido.

I would recommend trying Loestrin. I've been on it for over a year and I really like it ... no side effects at all.

gained 15 lbs 2 MONTHS?? Provera shouldnt be used more than a few days...

it is NOT a birth control method... its mostly used to force your period to come on when its gone M.I.A and you definitely are not pregnant



Depo-provera is from the same drug family but is NOT the same as provera

and yeah, I wouldnt recommend Depo either

yep. that's what I'm referring to. not the depo shot. but I guess it hasn't been used around here.

Here we go- I gave birth 4/2005 lost 50 lbs in one week and 25 the following two
I weighed 180

Six weeks later I got my first injection of depo, within two weeks I was at 220

My hair fell out shortly after, acne, mood swings, and no libido

Come August, time for my second injection (i didn't realize it was the shot til the day of my second shot.)

Two weeks later, I weighed 265 and was diagnosed with high blood pressure, borderline thyroid disorder, I suffered from digestive issues....doctors really couldn't pin point....they thought IBS, Gluten allergy, acid reflux.....

August 2005 that was my last shot, I had no period the entire time I was on the shot....I didn't receive my period until January 2007.

Yes, definitely will not recommend Depo. I got it the day after child birth and experienced tremendous weight gain and lots of breakthrough bleeding (heavy to moderate). After 180 days of breakthrough bleeding, my doctor finally prescribed methergine to stop it.

Well i just took provera 2 months ago it was because i bleed for almost a damn year and no doctor knew what was going on i took provera 3 times in a year it helped but i would bleed 4 days later until it stopped on its on i was horny on that pill it just made me dry but everyone side effects are different

I had the same problem for only about 2 months though. They gave me 5 provera to take 1 each day. Been getting my period normally every since. I had no side effects from it that I can recall.
