Being a professional sports fan in a non professional-sports state
I live in AL, and if people pay attention me when commenting in threads pertaining to sports or athletes I'm a sports head to the fullest. Football, baseball, soccer, swimming, basketball being numero uno on my list. However my city/state DOES NOT have a professional sports team at all. And it sucks because on free time I want to be able to go to the games and things like the people who hae professional teams in their states and cities. I get so geeked up watching it on t.v. then I realize that's the only thrill I can't or as close as I can get to those games, sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! I'm a Lakers Colts fans, and Yankees fan, U.S. soccer fan it would be so awsome if I could go to one of those games but I can't. Again, oh how it sucks.

Is your city getting a professional team or something? If so then you're lucky man lol. But I'd gladly drive 3 hours to go to a game, if the area was in my state, but we don't have jack squat here so that's out of the question.

I don't rep my city's teams but, then again, I had my teams before I moved here. But you're right, it's wonderful being able to catch games here.
Lol! But I'd rather have a city full of teams with losing records and enjoy the fanatic atmoshpere and enthusiastic nature of the sports world than not be able to experience something like that. I'm stubborn and spoiled I told my self by the time i hit 35 I'ma call it quits and not care for sports anymore. (I'm lying I'll love sports until I die) But I'm just bummed about this though and have been for a while **sigh** I had friends sitting telling my let's drive to a game in Atlanta since it's so close I was like I be darn lol.

Go to one of them Crimson tide games. Its damn near a professional event.
I really dont like going to games. It seems like a novel idea, but its really a pain in the ass. I went to an MBL game this summer. It was a gorgeous day, and that was the best part about it. It was me and my girl. I cant drink during the game, because I refuse to pay $6 for a bud light. And by the 8th inning, shyt started to drag. We left.
Basketball too, its not my favorite sport, but you need REALLY good seats to see anything.
Never been to any NFL games.
I wish I couldve attended the US Open. That is something I'll try to do next year.
In a word, Id rather watch it from my couch, or one of the local taverns.

Lol!!! Atleast you're city is trying to make something happen I'd be happy with that because there'd e hope that someday I'll be able to go to a game lol Oh yeah we thrive on college football down here. Black, white college football whatever it's almost like having a team but it's not lol. Right now Alabama crimson Tide is running the city I see flags everywhere, just imagine if we had a team the spirit of sports is here, but we just ain't got no cottom pickin team dag nabit.

Truthfully, our teams are not that bad lol. They just RARELY make the playoffs but when they do...OHHH BOYYY. Playoff atmosphere is a whole other BEAST. LOVE IT!! But don't rule out ATL, road trips to watch a sports game are hella fun.

I just don't think we can support a pro team downtown. Aint shit to do but eat, and get drunk. No shopping, not a lot of space to get around. It's gonna be a mess. All that traffic on those one way streets?

I know, I feel you, but I can't relate cause I haven't got the chance to experience that. I heard the good seats tickets range in the thousands, now I be damn if I pay a grand for a ticket as much of stan as I am, but I won't mind sitting to the back though somewhere in the middle. I know it feels good thought to atleast attend some of the events though you're not to fund of most of em lol. I would like to go to a tennis match as well, I know it maybe hecka quite but me and my family when we get excited we're loud so I think I may have to think about that one lol.
