Black men... grow up. Killer Mike bitching about Oprah.
Killer Mike bitches about Oprah. There's a definitely an "Oprah bites" bandwagon. And Killer, pardon, Masarati Mike, is the lastest rapper to hop on board. Like Ludacris and Fif before him, Ice Cube criticized Oprah for not inviting hip-hop artists to her show. Apparently Oprah failed to invite Cube, who executive produced and starred in Barbershop, when her show did a feature on the movie. Interestingly, Eve, a rapper, was a guest alongside Cedric the Entertainer. The same thing happened for FX's "Black & White." Masarati Mike didn't get it. "Why is it that the producers of "Black and White" were invited to go on Oprah, but not Ice Cube? Name me someone more progressive than O'Shea Jackson, who came up in a black neighborhood, had the courage to leave a highly successful group only to start his own major multi-media company?" Killer asked SOHH.com. "That's a feat. And then he's snubbed by a black broad because she doesn't like rappers. Ludacris who starred in this breakthrough movie goes on the show with the rest of the cast, only to be forced to defend his lyrics. Where were you when [Bill] O'Reilly was criticizing him? Bill O'Reilly is just gangsta rap for middle America. He's there to keep soccer moms scared of *****s."
"Oprah is full of shit," Mike added. "Nobody has the courage to say that Oprah is full of shit. She's not some beneficent person, she's just a person capable of doing incredible good, exposing people to reading, exposing people to Maya Angelou and Toni Morrison, or she can just be a dumb bitch shitting on rap, shitting on poor black people, it's possible to be both things at once."
This was jacked from SOHH... I don't understand why these rappers got their draws in such a bunch. Don't they see that they are contributing to the destruction of our communities, our children, our young women's self- esteem? Oprah is a billionare, she did not make it by exploiting the weakness of our culture. Not by a long shot, she took what she knew and made something for any black person to look at and aspire to become. WTF is up with these damn rappers???? Okay, I had to vent cause Killer Mike is the last to talk. His ass is smart as fuck but isn't even progressive enough to get his ass back in college and use his brain rather than attempting to make fast money on the streets by detsroying our community. And he needs to loose some dayum weight.
WTF.....and these people need to stop bitching about Oprah. If you feel that she is shitting on rap, fine -- she isn't going to advocate violent or mysognist lyrics. And she doesn't have to stand behind anything SHE doesn't believe in.
Oprah has been an inspiration for many people.....she has rebuilt lives, given education to less fortunate and is an incredible humanitarian.
His comments are ignorant. Shitting on poor people? Oprah has addressed just HOW poor people in this country were living unbeknowst to the majority of us. And let's not forget what the Angel Network has done.
When questioned, Oprah would say, "Who is Killer Mike." EXACTLY.
I am not Oprah's biggest fan... but everybody and their brother doesn't need to comment about things that don't concern them. Oprah is never gonna have friggen KILLER MIKE on her show. It just doen't meld.
I was with Ludacris... she was blatant and in his face and it wasn't that she was wrong about her stance, it was that she handled it like she was in Jr High. And I sorta understood Cube, regarding BlackWhite. As Exec Producer and a black Exec Producer at that, he should have been invited, and wasn't. But if E'EREBODY in the rap game is gonna jump on the 'yeah! what he said!' train, I can't ride along.
Please show me where you've attempted to earn her respect and she's summarily rejected you and THEN run your mouth. Stop trying to make a name for yourself on someone else's coattails!

My Mood:
I am not a Oprah fan, but I do agree with what you are saying "nobodysreal83", the rappers know what the real deal is, they just want to keep callin us hoes, and bitches!
Pretty soon all the rappers will be on that bandwagon.
but. . . . . .I don't see why Oprah wouldn't have Ice Cube on, he is a very intelligent man, what did she think he was going to come on as "----- With Attitude".

That alone shows why she shouldn't bring these fools on her show.

For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Zechariah 14:1-2.
I have to agree with Killer Mike. Killer Mike is not the ignutt thug rapper, he like Ludacris and Cube could very well orally joust with Oprah. I don't think he believes that Oprah is a bad person but she like anybody is subject to criticism. I can't tell Oprah what to do with her money, but I saw her on BET talking about how she's spent $30 something million building an all-girls school in South Africa. And she justified this by saying something about when you uplift the women in a community the whole community is uplifted. I'm like that's cool, but you couldn't make the school co-ed. I mean last time I checked Black boys were catching hell in Africa too. Furthermore, don't some Blacks in the U.S., hell Chicago, need some better schools to attend as well.
I think that Killer Mike feels that Oprah is a good person but she's lacking political courage. I mean by political courage is that Oprah won't defend Blacks especially U.S. born Blacks unless the liberal white community deems it alright like with Hurricane Katrina victims. And, I noticed on Oprah once when the show was about the lives women lead in different countries that there was this woman from Belgium or Luxembourg and Oprah asked her what do people in this woman's country think of the US. The woman said that her countrymen feel the US is a country of great wealth but there are many Americans who don't share in this wealth. Now what the woman said was the truth. Well, Oprah took this an opportunity to say that this is the greatest country in the world and gave this whole patriotic spiel. Now, I thought that was ****ing. And Oprah sickens me when she says that she chose to pursue excellence and that excellence is the greatest fighter against racism. What a load of BS!!! Let Oprah try to buy something that is deemed important to whites and she's be checked like any other negro. I mean Bill Cosby was froze out when he was part of a group trying to buy NBC, Walter Payton was part of a group that put together a better deal to bring a NFL expansion team to St. Louis before the Rams moved there only to be turned down, and Reginald Lewis put together a better leveraged buyout of a corporation that would've made him a billionaire before he died only to be denied the corporation that was being sold and that corporation was bought for a cheaper price than what he was offering.
I just feel that he thinks that Oprah like Cosby only talk of and persecute the wrongs of Blacks and excuse and are silent about the injustices of whites.

Oprah doesn't defend blacks who ruin the black community, instead she praises those who are trying hard to uplift the black community in positive ways. Funny how that works eh.
If you watch the Oprah show then you will realize that she has done tons to help black children in this country. Bringing and praising men who refer to our women in degatory terms will be a disgrace to the black community.
OK, for y'all who don't know I'm a Black man. I know Oprah's core audience is middle class white women and women in general for that matter. But, is it just me or does this women only seem to care about women, I mean her Legends Ball was largely (not completely) devoid of men especially Black men (I know Sidney Poitier is her idol)? I mean it just doesn't seem like Oprah cares to make a connection with young African-American men. I hope that I'm wrong but it seems that way.
Rappers who call women "Bs" and "Ws" are ruining the Black community? What about the Black women who flock to these men? What about the government policies that have helped to put the Black community in the toilet? I don't hear Oprah say anything about that. That's why she lacks political courage.

Let's also not forget that Oprah isn't Jesus. She's a talk show host. Her job is to bring about topics and promote conversation. I dont' watch her show because often I don't care about the topics she is promoting. My issue with her is that instead of bringing this to the forefront and giving them a platform to speak their minds and perhaps be changed, she just claps her hand over her ears and screams 'lalalalallalalaaaaa aaaaaaaa I can't hear you!' until they go away. And then say she has some Fitty in her Ipod. MMhmmm. The 'Now That's What I Call Music' superclean radio edit of In Da Club from 2001?
I think shes a great woman but she isn't a Goddess and she isn't perfect and I really want her to get knocked off of the pedestal that Great White America has put her on. She's starting to believe that mess about herself.

I would think she's made enough money and has enough influence to talk about Black men too. Matter of fact if she really cared about women (especially Black women) she would talk about their sons, mates, brothers, and fathers who are dying.

Yes but... she makes her money catering to women. Caucasian ones at that.
When I watch her show.... I feel sometimes like she is almost anti-men. And that BUGS me about her. It's like a course I took in Gendered Communication that may as well have been called 'Everything Men Have Done Wrong Since the Beginning of Time And How They Can Make Up For It'.
Males are not a significant part of her audience... you won't see your gender catered to on Oprah.
If caucasian women cared about hip hop she'd be all over it.
