Trying to talk to a female friend, but she won't let me talk. She constantly yells to be heard & interrupt the other person. The casual discussion soon turns into

Trying to talk to a female friend, but she won't let me talk. She constantly yells to be heard & interrupt the other person. The casual discussion soon turns into her misunderstanding my point because SHE WON'T SHUT UP & LISTEN. So I walk away like: & say fuck it. I'm bout to reach a breaking point if she can't communicate rationally.
How do I get her to listen instead of yelling & not hearing me?

My entire family is like this We're just loud to begin with so when we all get together everyone is always talking over the other and at least 2 fights always break out before the night is done.

Lol @ Jasmine20. But how do you get her to listen finally? She's like a fire that reacts to every word but in the wrong direction. I'm cool & collected looking for a solution while she just wants to yell & be heard:/

I do this with certain people, especially if I don't think they can win, lol. It's only with men though; I don't get into heated discussions with my female friends. If you're interested in keeping the friendship, when she starts to lose control, say "Let me know when you're done yelling, because I can't hear a word you're saying and I never have an opportunity to make a point." I would probably pause for that. Unfortunately, she's probably not going to completely stop with the yelling.

Just start ignoring her. Thats what I do to my mother. When you do that, your friend will feel some type of way and will come and try to talk to you. She'll want to know why you're not speaking to her like you used to and then she will start asking you questions about your life. You will have the floor to speak. Believe me it works.

I am currently dealing with this. This MF loves to go off on some tangent. At first I yelled and screamed back, letting them know they have missed my point. And I reiterate what I said and explain what I did not say. Since yelling and screaming back at them is counterproductive, I have requested this person listen to me w/o interruptions and judgment. Then I calmly restate my position.
Is this technique working? Eh, I see some improvement.

My mother is like this all day long. Whether we are arguing or talking calmly, she doesn't know how to wait her turn; she'll just talk over you. And progressively get louder until you let her have the floor lol

i HATE when ppl do that....like you're trying to tell your side and they cut you off or try to out talk you....or get loud like being loud means that they're right. LOL

They're so alike and the're the ones that are fighting the most. They don't listen to you for toffee.
