Off topic general, "what brand of makeup do ya'll use", "what's for dinner", "my boyfriend is having children with his brother's sister in law", "why don't black men date black women", "ya'lls a bunch a thirsty ho's" threads.
Do you play "word games?"
I prefer the question, "Are you extremely literal in your words?"

I prefer the question, "Are you extremely literal in your words?"
I tend to say EXACTLY what I mean. And people tell me that I play word games when they misunderstand me!
ex: My friend snapped on me when I told him "I'm thinking we should reschedule our date" when obstacles popped up on both sides. He thought I was cancelling on him when I was only opening the option up for discussion since we both had some complications. If I had said "Well, we're just going to have meet for lunch another time" then that would have been me cancelling the date.
The key words were "I'm thinking."
Another thing.... it bugs me to no end when people don't say what exactly what they mean. My grandmother uses the word "maybe" a lot. "Grandma, do you want me to bring you dinner?" "Maybe." Ambiguous as hell. I used to take it as a "maybe" and do nothing. Now I've come to determine that she uses "maybe" to say "yes."
And you?

I say maybe alot when I dont want to be responsible for the decision but I mean yes..like i'm with a group of friends and i have the deciding vote or a choice is left up to me that will affect someone else. But i hate when other ppl do it

LOL. I run into this problem more than I would like to, and I admit it is partially my fault.
I pick my words carefully when I communicate, and people often misundertand, or assume that there is a misunderstanding. I tend to be very direct with people, and it seems that people dont expect that at all.
For instance some annoying man in the doctors office sat next to me, and started trying to strike up a conversation, and I simply said in plain words that I dont want to talk to you. Thats a very clear statement. He laughed as if it was a joke, ,and kept up his one-way conversation as if I was joking. Grrrrrrr!
What I find more annoying is when people ignore your 1st response. If I say no I mean no, and I dont like to have to keep repeating it. If I say maybe I will think about dont hound me for an answer. Most people are not very direct so I guess it throws them when others are? I dont know.

i know exactly what you mean. it seems like people misunderstand you more when you speak plainly than when you're bullshitting. whenever i say something and people ask me "what does that mean?" i just repeat myself.
