People insult them by calling them a 'self-hating n*gro' and a c**n, when its people like them who put them in the position where they wanted to bleach their skin. Its always the black folks who are the meanest, too.
I mean other minorities have similar issues and the skin whitening industry is really popular in Asia, but people are WAY more sympathetic to other races who have the same type of issues and bleach their skin. But when black people do it they are cruelly mocked and laughed at.
If they want to fuck up their skin go on ahead. Ain't nobody got time to be debating this dumb ish.

I mean really.
I've been what is considered dark my whole life.
Darkest in my family no less, but feel like I live on another planet when I read stuff like this on the internet.
I've always been looked at as being beautiful first and dark somewhere down on the list???
Re: Why do people laugh at /humiliate dark skinned people?
I see alot of hateful comments towards darker skin women on Twitter. There are guys who Twitters that I run across that spend their entire time belittling darker women. All of it makes me sad because we are all so beautiful in our array of shades. Why are we this evil towards each other over something that most are jealous to have ( melanin)?
Re: Why do people laugh at /humiliate dark skinned people?
If people only knew that their reality is completely in their control.
They try to latch on to a little bit of everyone else's reality.
That leads to all sorts of problems.
Dark skin people bleaching is them trying to latch on to other people's reality of beauty.
The most beautiful darkskinned people perfected their own reality of beauty.
Bleached people tend to not look as beautiful as they once did.
Re: Why do people laugh at /humiliate dark skinned people?
First, not all people with black ancestry make fun of those with darker skin so it is not accurate to say everyone does such.
Second, it is essential people shame those dark-skins who chemically bleach because the behavior is a deep-seated an expression of self-loathing and weakness. A good way to discourage a behavior is to socially ridicule it. If enough people hate bleachers, people will bleach less. That's good for black people.
Third, dark skins oftentimes feel inferior within the black superstructure because blacks are too inclusive and try to unnaturally squeeze in too many diverse groups into the black group. As a result the community's norms have shifted to a lighter skin ideal, aided in part by this naive "black unity" thing which tries to fit everyone from China to Mexico into black peoplehood. Many of these people are not strictly black but mixed and the profusion of them has changed the black norm, "othering" dark skins in the process. If normal circumstances, dark skins would be revered as the "prototypical" black and everyone else would be an other. This is how the white population works vis-a-vis Germanics.

I don't matter if you are light, dark, medium or whatever. If you aint white, you aint right to society. Your arse is still black no matter what shade. All this dark v light BS is why we still aren't moving forward. OP all you needed to do is use the search function, this topic isn't fresh.
Re: Why do people laugh at /humiliate dark skinned people?
I run across PLENTY of well adjusted dark skinned people all of the time....believe it or not, not everyone raises their kids to hate themselves. There are dark skinned people who love themselves in spite of the messages sent through the media. They grow up, do well in school, attend college, date marry and have beautiful dark skinned children...alot of silliness on this board. It is starting to extend beyond thought provoking at this point.
Not everyone thinks white skin, blue eyes and straight hair is superior/beautiful/desirable.
I for one don't. So glad I will be able to instill self love and the love of all things African in my daughter. SMH.
Some folks need to log off and stop worshipping whiteness and read some damned books sometimes.

This.
For the people who claim that this type of discrimination does not exist, which foundation colour do you use?
I'm curious because I bet the chicks who do say that fonts on here are making shit up are brown paper bag and up. Colourism is real folks, it happened to me in middle school, and I live in CANADA of all places.
