EVERYBODY in this pic is gorgeous. They were a very attractive family. It's a shame I couldn't tell them apart. I think it was Ricky that was my makebelieve babydaddy. It could've been any one of them (besides Edmund and Foster--I could differentiate those two.)
I was thrilled to find out Unsung will be doing an episode on this family...I couldn't think of a better group.

Foster's conviction for his sex crime and mug shot can be found everywhere. But there's nothing on Olympia and Ricky. True
And there was a little foster who was not in the group. He died as a teenager in the 80s. Some sources say he died from hepatitis; another says it was AIDS and that his body was found in a phone booth. I don't know about the phone booth but his name was Christopher. He died from hepatitis Then there were rumours the mother was shady, sleeping with their manager and stealing royalties from her babies... I have heard about the royalty issues and lawsuits and other things, but not the manager, Dick Griffey
It's also said Edmund was a forklift driver who lived in a small, low-income housing neighborhood in Va. Another source says he collected a county check. He did drive a forklift. He had 11 kids one by each wife and 9 others with nine other women.. I know
Does anyone know what the hell happened to this clean-cut family? Of course, I can always wait for the episode of Unsung, but what are the chances they'll give the real deal? Besides, rumour has it Ricky, Foster and Olympia (who's MIA) won't participate. So I can imagine the narrator glosses over things with "Some of the siblings have had legal troubles over the years" then moving on to something else.

Seems one of Edmund's sons was trying to shop a reality show in which he finds all of his siblings, gets them together to live in one house, and create a singing group that's supposed to recaptured their father's magic???
Seems papa was a rolling stone. His children aren't sure if he had 9, 10, or 11 kids in all. (According to his obit, he had 11). Many of his children have never even met; and they have never all been together at one time.

I'm actually glad they moved on with their lives instead of trying to hold onto to their former short-lived glory by taking gigs in small hole-in-the-wall type clubs for a paycheck (or next hit of crack).

Grandparents are supposed to spoil the hell outta their grandkids. My grandparents did it to me and my parents do it to my kids. But multiply your 10 children by the number of kids they each have??? Ain't NOBODY getting nothing for Christmas! I guess Grandmama Sylvers had to catch those fools on their birthdays--spread out the spending a lil. Grandma DeBarge seems to just post pictures of her grandtribe as a way of gifting them.

Leaves to go let my children know RIGHT NOW they get two kids each. At 3 children that's 6 grandkids. I'm telling them I will NOT do a thing for any child they have after the first two. If Baby #3 feels left out, that's their parent's fault--cause they've been warned.

Frankly, I don't think the show has legs. It hasn't been picked up anywhere. BET or TV1 might try to do something with it after the episode of Unsung generates a bit of dormant interest in the group. I mean, if Ice and Coco can get a damn show?
But I don't think these people should be misled by interest from a few nostalgic and curious folks. Truth is, their "reign on top" was shortlived and time has moved on. Nobody's really checking for them like that. Yeah, we want to know Where are they Now and what's up with the criminal activity, but would anyone really go buy a Sylvers album? Can they really compete with Beyonce and 'nem? The youngesters these days ain't having it! They will not allow a Sylvers the Next Generation get in the way of a #1 for Justin Bieber.

I know what you mean. My grandparents spoiled all six of us! (LOL) We always get excited around the holidays especially Christmas. Now both of them passed I really miss them. I see my parents doing the same thing for our kids. They have eight grandkids including my two daughters and they spoil them rotten. I will say I'm blessed that they get a chance to experience that like we did. Kids nowadays don't have it like that and it's a shame.
I've heard some crazy stuff about the Sylvers, from rape, incest and other shit. I'm sure TV One will probably clean alot of it up.
I remember when they Did Shalamar, Jodie Watley pretty much did 3 or 4 youtube videos to tell her story.

But really: Was Foster's victim a female? I assumed it was, but all I read was that he was convicted for performing oral sex on an unconscious, underaged victim.
And what's up with the colonstomy bag (sp?) and dentures? I know they had some jacked up grills back in the day, but 45 was too young to be sporting dentures--unless he was on drugs too.
