The consequences to you may be excess but you don't know about the prior experiences of the bus driver. Like someone said earlier there is no protection for the driver. To you he is a brute but you don't know if just the other day a woman pulled out a knife on him. Also, we don't know if he did call the cops but they took a while to arrive and she had time hit him. Forgive me if I don't immediately see the man as the wrong party and the woman as the victim.
Let's be real if this video had 2 women we would be applauding the female busdriver for handling her business

By the way, older people are just as ignorant as younger folks. They think they can talk to you any kind of way and won't say anything. Like I said before, respect goes both ways and no one, young AND old, have respect. One man called me a bitch because he asked me for a quarter and I told him I don't have one, in a respectful manner. Called me outside my name and I cussed his ass back. The older generation are quick to judge and bash kids of today but some are just as ratchet and rude as the kids of today. The girl was wrong on all levels but he should've called the police because he will be out of a job. Pick and choose your battles people.

I'm not into the whole gender roles i was responding to a comment about men needing to never hit women which was the standard back then. I believe that people who uphold these archaic beliefs should do so holistically and embrace all aspects of it including women adhering to these same rules.
I do not believe that a man should hit a woman unprovoked but if he attacked like anyone else he should be allowed to defend himself.

My SO watched this and he was disgusted. I'm always saying if you hit someone get ready to get hit back, but the driver forgot he's at work. His job won't care that he got hit first. That display should cost him his job. And it doesn't even have to be for hitting her. All the antagonizing and back and forth before it got physical is enough of a reason to fire him. Fighting with passengers is not his job. He should have pulled the bus over, stepped off the bus, and phone police about the irate passenger that refused to leave. I know they have procedures in place for these types of incidents and I know for a fact no job condones arguing with customers in that manner. While he's on the clock he's a representative of his employer and he just made them look bad. He put others in jeopardy with his actions and that is how the Department of Transportation will see it. This is Human Resources basics.
With that said, had he been off the clock and hit her AFTER she hit him then let the royal rumble begin.

Exactly and the women in here would be cosigning. But on the other hand they'd also be complaining like in the thread I referenced how wrong the female was if she'd hit a man and do harm to him no matter the situation feeling sorry for him.
A man is a allowed to get in a woman's face because he's a man and we view that as "masculinity" for some odd reason, but if the woman defends herself for someone reason she's in the wrong for acting like a man. Just look at the thread about the girl in the classroom standing up to the guy, male fonts were in that thread complaining to calling her masculine.
Now a woman gets in a man's face, she's still viewed as a villian because traditionally they believe that is "masculine" behavior so he defends himself he's applauded and she'd rewarded with "Don't step to a man or get treated like one".
Either way the woman never wins, that is what irks me. I always complain about double standards, seems like this ancient way of thinking is one of the many acceptable one's left.

Right, because there wasn't any other way that he could have handled it.
The girl was wrong for popping off at the mouth like that, but that driver was even more wrong for resorting to physical violence. He could have called 911 or kicked her ass off the bus. There could have been other things that he could have done. Giving her an uppercut to the jaw was extreme and unnecessary. I agree with the person who said that he should have had self-restraint. That goes for the girl, too. If I hadn't known what was coming, I would have been on the side of the driver. However, after seeing that he uppercut her to the jaw...no! That was a loser move on the driver's part. If she did hit him first, she was wrong, too. No doubt about it. No one should be putting their hands on anyone. However, he was much bigger than her, and stronger too. He should have kept his anger in check and just kicked her ass off the bus.
