I was having a discussion with my boss and somehow ended up talking about Credit cards and his current horrible financial situation. He said that he currently has 12 cards, and the interest rates alone are kicking his ass, not to mention alimony and child support. 12 CREDIT CARDS? JESUS!!!
I have 4 @ 22 [Amex,Capital 1, 2 Citicards] and I think that excessive, Im trying to get rid of 1 of my citi cards now. How many credit cards do you guys currently own? How many is TOO MANY?
I had maxed out 4 by the end of my Junior year in college. My mother paid them off and told me the next one is on me... Obviously, I'm much cheaper when it comes to my own money...

When I was in college, I had two and maxed them out b/c I had to pay for my plane tickets to come home (tix from MS to/from NYC are NOT cheap). I payed them off my like '04 and just chose not to get a new one til this past December.
My credit is excellent and in order to keep it that way, I've adopted the "If I can't pay with cash or a debit card, I don't need it" philosophy. I use my credit card once a month just to show some type of consistency and pay the bills in full.

Ur right. I have an American Express card with NO LIMIT, a lot of people get caught up. They know their card won't get declined regardless of if they spend $1000 or $1,000,000, but people tend to forget that while it's all good, you still have to pay that shit all back at the same time every month. There is no pay 1/2 now pay the next 1/2 later with Amex, those mofos dont play. If you had the balls to swipe for $10,000 in purchases, you better have the bank to pay ALL ThAT SHIT BACK when that bill comes.

You know, I got declined for an AmEx and I was MAD b/c Iknow I have excellent credit.
I called the # they listed if I had any questions and the lady said, "You have GREAT credit but your credit history hasn't been very active in the last couple of years or so and that's why you werre declined. Of course, I was still mad. LOL! but she said its highly likely I'll be offered one soon b/c I'm "just the kind of carmember they like." MMhmmm, don't try to catch me up - I'm REAL smart about this stuff now.

I have 2; I use my citi card regularly and I rarely use the chase (I don't even carry it around, my mom has it--and no, she doesn't use it!). And I never carry a balance--I pay it online within one week of using it.
Oh, and I have a Macys card (which can also be used as a reg. CC). I use that one a lot, but again, I pay the bill within a week so no interest fees. And I have a VS card that I've only used once.
