Re: Donnie McClurkin speaks @ COGIC Holy Convocation
well, praise God - for real!
so, i was reading the bible daily for about a week and a half last month, and came to understand that there are two curses involving the descendants of Ham: Sodomy, and betrayal of your own (Coventry, etc) . And this curse doesn't specifically apply to 'black people', but to all of human - just look around. Those two curses alone have destroyed humanity, reducing it to what it is today.

Re: Donnie McClurkin speaks @ COGIC Holy Convocation
Seems sincere to me.
Only you know, you know, you know!, how much we need your grace and power to overcome, Lord
May those that attended as well as the ones that heard these weighty words adhere to the warnings thereof

Re: Donnie McClurkin speaks @ COGIC Holy Convocation
Listening to Part 1 now ... POWERFUL MESSAGE AND STERN WARNING TO THE BODY OF CHRIST. God bless you, brother for being so transparent!
(but that Hammond organ going off really disrupts the atmosphere during this Holy moment ... people need to learn how to receive a strong word without emotional hype ... like shouting, clapping, organ music... etc. it's OK to be silent and allow what is being said to really "sink in")

Re: Donnie McClurkin speaks @ COGIC Holy Convocation
Thanks Bananaj ... my hand is out to you!
Donnie's message is powerful and anointed by God ... but 4 min into the video what stood out to me is right when Donnie is declaring how Jesus is a deliverer and you can sense a purity and power being released in his words... people are shouting ......... then the organ player starts to get cranked up (afterall, that's the way we do in church) and then Donnie turns to him and shouts; "No, follow the flow of the Holy Spirit."
Too many times I've witnessed a holy moment when God is dealing with people and His Presence begins to lift because people have been trained to "do something" (mostly by the preacher ~ i.e. "I can't get no help in here" "ya'll don't know what I'm talking about" or "you ain't ready to hear this") .... so to show their agreement with what is being said they shout or clap and applaud and then the organ player needs to put an exclamation point on what is being preached. UGGHHH!
I wasn't trying to poke any fun at the poor soul on the organ ... because he might have thought he was helping the preacher out. Most church folk don't know the difference between performing and flowing with the Spirit of God, because there is so little teaching and too much preaching (or hooping and hollering).
OK .. I'm done. :-)

I saw that last night, when I went over to the site, Gay Christian Watch. Brother Donnie really allowed the Lord to speak through him there. That message was well needed.

You don't have to be done, seeing how observant that you are to what's really going on! Just participate a little more often because it is refreshing to hear a good word when there are so many bad ones out there.
P.S.
Has anyone got a link to what Bishop Range had to say, I hear he tore it up as well while stepping on the toes of folks that we often hear from?

As a member of COGIC, I agree; some aspects of change takes time. Our church is one that has thrived on emotion and entertainment in our preaching.
Sometimes I watch guys like Creflo, Jenzen, etc, and wonder how are they able to build effective ministries simply by TEACHING the word to black folks.

There were other sermons during the meeting that were warning-based.
I thank God for that!

Vaughn, thanks for your encouraging words! I do want to contribute in a positive way to people who are transitioning out of a toxic church environment, by sharing what I have learned. If I can help anyone, then what I've gone through will be worth it!
We shouldn't throw the baby out with the bath water - but there is so much that goes on and taught within the culture of what we call "church" that is not biblical. And it doesn't mean it's wrong, but a lot of it is traditions of men, and Jesus said that men's tradition make the Word of God of no effect.
For anyone who is interested in exploring the roots of our christian practices and want to know why we "do what we do" within church structure there is a book I'd recommend titled 'Pagan Christianity' written by Frank Viola and George Barna and another titled 'The Untold Story of the New Testament Church' by Frank.
However, if you're satisfied with the status quo ~ you may not want to read this, because you'll never look at "church" the same way again (and that's not a bad thing :~) )

Can you elaborate, because I have read the book of Genesis dozens of times, and I still can't make sense of the Curse of Ham/Canaan.
