The FareWell Sermon (Islam)
The Farewell Sermon, or Prophet Muhammad's Last Sermon was delivered before his death to the pilgrims peforming hajj in Mecca at the top of Mount Arafat. It is recorded that his audience at that time was about 12 thousand, and presently the number of Muslims who perform hajj each year reaches the millions.
After praising, and thanking God, he said:
"O People, listen well to my words, for I do not know whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY.
O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city (mecca) as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Treat others justly so that no one would be unjust to you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that HE will indeed reckon your deeds. God has forbidden you to take usury (Interest), therefore all usury obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital , however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer inequity.
O People, it is true that you have certain rights over your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under God's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers. It is your right and they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste...
O People, listen to me in earnest, worship God, perform your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your financial obligation of your wealth (to the poor). Perform Hajj if you can afford to.
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.
O People, NO PROPHET OR MESSENGER WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE BORN. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I am leaving you with the Book of God (the QUR'AN*) and my SUNNAH (the life style and the behavioral mode of the Prophet), if you follow them you will never go astray.
All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly.
Be my witness O God, that I have conveyed your message to your people.
Indeed he conveyed his message.
***The subject of the last prophet of ISlam is sure to incite debate, and argument, and such a great man and his legacy cannot, and will not be tarnished by such irreverant discourse. Therefore this particular thread is closed to debate, or otherwise negative exchanges.

Respectfully, this is a public discussion board. What you do not wish to be discussed or debated should be relegated to PMs and email. If it's posted here, it's open to public discourse and refutation.
If you're too sensitive to have the "prophet" challenged (especially regarding his statement of following his behavior, which was shady to say the least), then this isn't the proper forum. If his legacy is so fragile that it can be tarnished by public discourse (like cartoons or books, which warrant death penalties), then how strong is it??
Again, we're all free to post what we wish. But none of us are free to demand a moratorium on discussion here. Personally, I find the suggestion offensive and illustrative.

I totally agree with the post above. How dare you dictate my right to articulate truth. Just another sign that the world is full of a lot of confused and desperate people clinging to....Oh never mind.

It was interesting to read that, but I don't uderstand what is not up for debate. You make "digs" if we can call it that, at Christianity a fair bit, both subliminal and othewise. Why should what you believe be any more protected than other people's beliefs? I don't get your purpose in posting if it wasn't to be discussed, be those negative or positive observations.

No one is saying YOU cant discuss it, I said I, negra am not going to debate it. There are many other threads in which a debate is welcomed but the negative way in which some people choose to 'debate' is just not worth response. It is unwise to go back and forth with people who believe that your faith is Evil, or dictate to you with total disrespect about your faith with no knowledge; just simply to be disrespectful. I dont think any sane person would continue to entertain these types of exchanges. I dont think you would argue with someone who is telling you you are inferior, stupid, evil, or the likes.
So my apologies if you feel that I am dictating, but just like we all have a right to say what we want I have a right to respectfully choose not to debate in each and every thread. I would never disrespectfully argue Sometimes you have to set the standards for what you will and will not accept

IT is up for debate or discussion...but Im simply saying that I am not going to debate in this particular thread. I can answer a question, but no debate.
People do not have the knowledge to, and many cant do so without being rude, and purposely offensive.
I have discussed it in other threads though.
I'm simply choosing to refrain from debating here because of the way in which these discussions have developed in the past threads.

Oh ok, lol. That's good to hear. I totally misunderstood your intentions. Yes I have seen your other threads about Islam. I'll say this...you have more patience than me anyway, cause a lot of these posters are trying to build an urban stormforont, and they're so painfully ignorant and filled with misplaced jingoism, that honestly they're beyond it. That's not restricted to religion though, so tehre you have it. lol
