Re: What is your favorite book series?
Harry Potter! Lol.
But, OP, if you are looking for a suggestion, I'd like to put the Fever series out there. Author is Karen Marie Moning and there are 5 books in it. I read them all in a week (and this is while working a more than full time job). It's a paranormal/urban fantasy series (and urban fantasy =/= hood books). Great stuff.

I love the Patternist Novels by Octavia Butler (Wild Seed, Clay's Ark, Patternmaster, Mind of My Mind, and Survivor, which was loosely related and hard to find). She's my favorite author, though. Her Xenogenesis series is excellent, also, but it's short--it's only a trilogy. I also like her Parable series. She intended for it to be a trilogy but passed before she could complete the final novel.
I second Valerie Wilson Wesley's books. I have all of her mysteries, and I have to re-read them every couple of years because she puts out new material very slowly.
The late L.A. Banks had some awesome series, as well. Check out her Vampire Huntress series, as well as other series penned by her. She only passed last summer, but she was very talented.
(As you can tell I read mostly speculative fiction when I read it.)
