My best list would be: Teen Summit, College Hill Miami, Video Soul, Midnight Love
(I feel like when I was in middle school there was this show that would air like 5 videos in a certain theme? Some kind of countdown... I liked that one too)
Worst: Baldwin Hills, The BET Awards when Michael Jackson died
Hmm some of the better shows that I liked were Cita's World, Teen Summit, Hitz from the Street, Rap City, Video Soul, Comic View, and 106 & Park when it first came on.
I could do without all the reality shows that BET has, one of the better ones was Keyshia Cole but outside of that I didn't really like any of them. I was in college when College Hill came on and that was a hot fuckin mess! On one hand I was glad to see HBCU's and Black college students on tv, but when you looked at how we were being portrayed, let's just say it left much to be desired. If they weren't on there having sex or throwing house parties, we were at homecoming, or fighting...smh. That shit might be cool on the Real World but people already think all that goes on at HBCU's is sex, drugs, and parties...didn't need help adding to that stereotype.
"You don't always get what you pay for out of life, but whatever you do get....you WILL pay for!"
It was on an' poppin when Donnie Simpson was on there. Video Soul was DA BEST!!! And Midnight Love, Comic View, Teen Summit, Video Gospel-when they ACTUALLY showed pure gospel videos and not this basement crap out now.
Honestly BET has set the African American race back at least 50 years, and I refuse to support such destruction to our community.
For example: Keysha Cole-a crackhead mother with children all over the country, some of whom have never met their mother. Everyone of her offspring are unwed mothers raising children with multiple men or men they do not even know. SMH(You will see a white woman of this caliber glamourized on TV) 106th and Park-who wants to watch the same inappropriate videos every single day? The host Rosci is unprofessional by sleeping with numerous guests on her show quite openly. SMH(would never be tolerated by a white show host, she would be terminated) Award Shows-a big joke and the laugh is on us. Tiny and Toya-two single mother's raising their children as they drink and party like they are not parents at all. Let's not forget the sterotype of all African American men going in and out of jail their whole lives.
I can go on and on, but when are we going to get tired of being portrayed in this light?????
