Off topic general, "what brand of makeup do ya'll use", "what's for dinner", "my boyfriend is having children with his brother's sister in law", "why don't black men date black women", "ya'lls a bunch a thirsty ho's" threads.
They're both from Canada and go to the University of Texas. They aren't using fake accents but one sounds like how I expect Canadians to speak and the other doesn't. I know there's a large caribbean influence on Canada too.
I have noticed that for years now & can easily identify with the first vid. Some Canadian men "put on" an American accent to not appear "soft"(to Americans) or appear more "exotic" (to other Canadians), I've seen/hear it so many times, it's not even funny.
I have a lot of Black Canadian friends I speak with on the regular. All of their comments are spoken in the form of a question though they are not asking a question.
Canadian: I'm going to the market to get something for dinner?
Me in my mind: (well, why you askin me)
Canadian: Yesterday I went to the doctor?
Me in my mind: (Ugh, are you asking me if I can validate if you did go to the doctor)
Canadian: Hi, My name is Alexi?
Me in my mind: (I dont know, I should be asking you)
But yeah....lol, when they talk.. much of what they say that aren't questions are asked in the pattern of a question though not a question and just a mere comment.
