On my search for different exfoliants and natural skin remedies, I came across this article talking about the wonders of using Apple Cidar Vinegar on the face. It's supposed to be a great toner, exfoliant, lightens dark marks and cleans & tightens pores. Also detoxes the body when taken internally.
Anyone here use it on their face?
Apple cider vinegar is a great natural beauty tool, as it can aid in a variety of fashions to make one feel more beautiful, both inside and out. Among its various health and beauty applications, is its use as a complexion toner, skin exfoliate and even a detoxifier for the body.
Here are some of the many ways you can use apple cider vinegar to become more beautiful:
1) Apple cider vinegar soak and hair rinse: Aids muscle tone, skin softness and hair shine
Adding a cup of apple cider vinegar to your bath water when you soak can do wonders. The apple cider vinegar allows the skin to soften, while at the same time toning up and firming your muscles. The high potassium levels are also able to sooth any muscle aches that you may have. Allowing your hair to be rinsed in apple cider vinegar moreover, adds an extra little shine to it, and also rids your hair of soap residue.
2) Face steam: Cleanses the pores and firms facial muscle tone
You may know that steaming treatments help open up the pores and deep-cleanse them, but did you know that adding several tablespoons of apple cider vinegar can enhance the steaming process?
Just add a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to hot water (make sure that it is steaming) and hold your face above the steam. It helps also to hold a damp towel over your head, to direct the steam towards your face. The apple cider vinegar additive helps to deep-cleanse the pores as well and toning up the facial muscles, resulting in a more radiant and healthy you!
A quick way to beautify yourself with apple cider vinegar would be to simply rub your skin with a few drops of apple cider vinegar. That's right, its as simple as that!
First, make sure that your skin is clean and wet, so as to allow the apple cider vinegar to work more effectively, as the top most layer of oils and dirt will be washed off. Next, dab a few drops of apple cider vinegar to your skin and rub in a circular motion, as though massaging the skin for around thirty seconds. This will loosen the dead skin and effectively exfoliate the skin. Lastly, rinse off the apple cider vinegar with clean water, and enjoy your more radiant skin.
4) Skin toner: Tones and firms skin
Diluted apple cider vinegar, in the ratio of 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to 5 tablespoons of clean water, works as an excellent skin toner. Just make up the quantity that you desire in that ration, pour into a spare or old spritz bottle and enjoy your natural skin toner!
5) As a morning drink: Aids with insomnia, helps break down fats, stimulates blood
Having a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in the morning, and before you sleep in a drink can maximize the beauty benefits of Apple cider vinegar for you. Being high in potassium and containing over 90 different substances, including Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A and Vitamin B1, adding a little bit of apple cider vinegar in your diet will allow you to be a healthier, more beautiful person in no time. I use it. It's the main ingredient in my toner besides water and aloe vera juice.
acv contains AHA, alpha hydroxy acids so i used it for that purpose, even if it is a small amount it does help with exfoliation.
Make sure you dilute it though. PH of the skin is around 4.5-5.0 if I remember correctly and my organic acv from trader joe's has a ph of 2.5
Dont use it on open pimples or cuts because it'll burn the shit out of you for a good =minute.
This is one of the reasons why I wanted to try it. I'm leaning more towards natural exfoliation methods and you can never go wrong with AHAs. I'll start with a diluted solution and move up as time goes on.
Thanks for the feedback ladies. I'm gonna try it for a month and report back with the results. I wanted to try baking soda as an exfoliant but Im scared that it will wreck my skin so I'll try this instead.
