This story is loosely base on a video clip I saw on Youtube. This story does contain strong language. Both praises and criticisms are both welcomed. Enjoy!
“Okay,” Kris said after Mary finished playing Chopin’s Raindrops on the grand piano. “You have improved a lot since last time, but you are still missing some spots.”
“What spots I’m missing?” Mary said, pressing her lip slightly.
“You’re still pressing too hard on the piano,” Kris replied. “Here, let me show you what I’m talking about.”
Kris motioned Mary to scoot over and demonstrated how Mary was playing.
“Oh,” Mary said as she could feel her ears getting warm. “I really play like that?”
“Yes,” Kris nodded.
Mary thought for a second. “Dad says I play just fine.”
Kris snorted a little. “That’s easy for your Dad to say. But what about your Mom?”
“I see your point,” Mary sighed. “But I’m not really a great pianist like she is.”
“Don’t worry,” Kris patted Mary’s leg in comfort.“Your skills will get better in time. You just have to practice.”
“I will practice,” Mary hugged Kris and stood up to leave. “Do you want me to get Mom?”
"Yeah, that will be nice,” Kris couldn’t help but add, “Since I don’t feel like going upstairs.”
Mary laughed softly while heading towards the door.“I’ll be right back.”
Kris gets up from the bench, pulls out a book from her bag, and sits on the lounge chair. “NowI can have some peace and quiet,” she thought, putting her feet on the small table.
Kris was deeply into her book when she heard a familiar male voice saying loudly, “Hello? Hello?”
“Shit,”Kris grimaced. “He’s here. Early.”
Will walks into the music room and notices Kris reading.“Hey, get your feet off the table!” he exclaimed as Kris sighed. “God, if Dad finds out I’m here this early, I’m toasted!”
Will takes off his white lab coat, exposing his hunter green scrubs. While he lays his lap coat on the chair near the door, Will notices that Kris was still ignoring him. “And when the hell do you read encyclopedias?”
Kris looks up from her book, putting her feet down on the floor. “What does it look like I’m reading?”She asked in an annoyed tone while holding up her book.
“Let me see,” Will said as he walked towards Kris and snatches the book from Kris’ hands. “History of Russian Culture. Fuckin’ communist, drunken bastards!” He gives the book back to Kris and sits onthe piano bench.
“I had a completely shitty day, I-” Will notices that Kris was not paying attention to him. “You know that ignoring someone while they’re talking is rude right?” He put his hands on his hips.
“Go to hell!” Kris thought. “I am listening. I can multi-task,remember?”
“Of course,” Will replied nonchalantly, crossing his legs. “Son of a bitch! Felix can arrive to work whenever the fuck he wants and the boss lets him! He even gets a raise and I don’t?” Will runs his hands through his hair.
“Maybe if you get your ass off of Facebook and take your job seriously, this wouldn’t happen as often,” Kris suggested sarcastically. “And maybe you will get the raised that you want so bad.”
“Hey mama, you don’tknow how my job works, so you don’t what you’re talking about!” Will exclaimed.
Kris didn’t sayanything but sighed.
“Anyways,” Will continued, putting his hands on his hips. “Felix doesn’t do the damn job right either! He takes the wrong patient’s blood and gives it to the wrong technician! Manypeople, like me, are bitchin’about him, but that Dominican chick doesn’t believe us! I swear to God, I think Felix is fucking the boss-chick. No wonder he’s getting all the raises while the rest of us don’t receive jack shit…”
"Please shut up!" Kris though as she rolled her eyes. "Complaining won't get you nowhere!"
“…And the goddamn patients were so goddamn grumpy more than usual today!” Will said, raising his voice a bit. “One by one, the patients will ask “can you get me a cup of water? Can you get me a cup of coffee? Can you give me toast? Can you give me…”
“This is freakin insane!” Kris thought. “He keeps going and going! I got to figure something out to make him get quiet.”
“…Can you give me this? Can you give me that?” Will waves his hands in frustration. “You fucking idiots! What the hell you think this place is? This is a clinic, not a restaurant for God’s sakes!”
Will gets out his cigarette box from his pants pocket and sighs.
“Finally,”Kris thought in relief.
Unfortunately for Kris,Will resumed back to talking.
“It’s good to home,”Will glances at Kris. “You look lovely today.”
“You just now notice me?” Kris asked.
Will shrugged. “I was pissed! I don’t notice small irreverent shit when I’m pissed.” He takes out a cigarette from the cigarette box. “ How come you don’t call me? I gave you my number.”
Kris rolled her eyes.“How many times I have to tell you? I’m not interested-”
Kris and Will were interrupted by Mary and Donna entering the room. Looking at their facial expressions, Kris had a gut feeling that both Mary and Donna overheard her forced conversation with Will.
After smoking a couple of puffs, Will looks up and notices Mary and Donna. Seeing their facial expressions, he quickly puts his cigarette box (with some cigarettes fallingout of the box) inside his pocket and tries to explain.
“Mom,” he hesitated.“I, uh, was blowing off some steam. The job didn’t like-”
Donna puts her hand up.“Shut up William!” She notices Will’s cigarettes. “How many times I told you not to smoke in this house?"
“What? I didn’t knowthat you made up that rule-”
“William, please leave!”
Will sighed and stood up to leave. “Yes ma’am.”
After Will left, Krisfelt that it was now her time to explain. “Mrs. Holt, I didn’t know that
Will would behere this early. If I had known-”
"Don’t worry about it Kristina,” Donna said. “William can be a handful.”
