I have Cablevision and I hate them with a passion. The DVR takes forever to come on and does not have much space, the box takes forever to reboot, the HD sucks, and occasionally the picture freezes up. They sneakily reduce my services and raise my bill, and add bogus charges after a few months. Then they give it back when I call and threaten to disconnect and go to a competitor. They gave me DVR only when I called and asked to be disconnected. My partner managed to milk a router out of customer service somehow. Well, Fios has finally become available in my area, and I am thinking of switching. It looks like the Fios package has more channels, includes the DVR, and includes a router. The downside is I would be locked into a contract. Would it be worth it to switch to Fios, or are they shady like Cablevision?
Ok As a ex cablevision worker I can tell you now that prices werent raised without you knowning. When you initial sign up they tell you the prices are good for a yr and in some cases two.
Now considering that you live in an area where Fios is offered you can call cablevision and speak to the retention dept to get reduced rates. If the prices arent up to your expectations then leave. Theres no contract. However, Fios has a contract with cancellation fees. So its completely up to you.
Another thing you can do is set up a brand new service using faux names and a faux social(if its asked) and get brand new prices. They will cut your shit off a day or two before but it'll go the same way if you decide to go to fios.
ETA: I can say more but I'll wait to see your response first.
If you actually watch TV & Appreciate HD along with the perks of advanced smart tv technology switch to FIOS. Its not even close inregards to what FIOS has to offer but be warned. Quality is going to cost you but again if you really watch & enjoy tv and in tenet. its worth the price.
FIOS has the best HD Picture Quality out there.
