To Those who wanna Read, & want to get to know a bit about #4
IT IS LENGTHY
The Ruler - Saturn
4 is the number of Foundation - the four winds, the four seasons, the four astrological elements.
4’s are solid, ‘four-square’ reliable, practical, plodding, home-loving, succeed through diligence and perseverance.
4’s can be ‘respectable’ to a fault, defensive, stubborn, loyal, trustworthy, ‘pillars of society’.
Four is the number of the great elements: earth, air, fire, and water.
Four are the regions of the earth: north, south, east, and west.
Four are the divisions of the day: morning, noon, evening, and midnight.
Four are the seasons of the year - spring, summer, autumn, and winter.
Four are the great variations of the lunar phases
Number 4s are hard-working, loyal and ambitious. They have a great deal of common sense and a practical approach to life.
Number 4s are careful and unlikely to make a decision without giving the matter a great deal of thought. Once Number 4s have reached a decision they will be determined on their decided course of action.
Other people depend on Number 4s ability to cope with life’s ups and downs. People are drawn to the stability of Number 4s. Number 4s are reliable friends and once they will not change their option easily.
In the number 4 we may find the powers to create and attain, when used on the positive path. When the forms of 4 are centred on the material plane, they manifest as creative abilities. When focused on the spiritual plane, they have the ability to open new avenues for investigation into the psychic and spiritual realms.
Number 4's often end up becoming the pillars of the community. These individuals are hard working, practical and trustworthy. The 4 Destiny person is practical, loyal, security-conscious and business-minded.
You have the potential for great success if you overcome your insecurities - that is your challenge.
Your purpose is to inspire others to fulfil their fullest potential.
Number 4s are very traditional and find and challenges to the status quo difficult to accept. They find it hard to disguise their disapproval of flighty and superficial people or of people living alternative lifestyles. Number 4s have a distrust of the unknown and are far more comfortable with things within their ken. This can lead to intolerance of other people who choose to follow a different path. Number 4s should try to be more open to change and accept others for what they are.
Number 4s ambitions can be a source of stress if they are found to be out of reach. When stressed, Number 4s become ill-tempered and often lash out at whoever is nearest at hand. Number 4s should learn to manage their stress in other ways in order to avoid unnecessary conflicts.
These loyal individuals make fantastic marriage and business partners. However, self-sacrificing number 4's often demand too much both of themselves and others and develop reputations as martyrs or tyrants. Their will power and stubbornness can also be interpreted as greed and selfishness. This completely baffles the confused number 4 whose intentions are usually to benefit the good of all.
You have to be careful not to be bossy with colleagues or friends.
If the home environment appears sloppy and unkempt, it is a sign that the 4 Destiny (or Life Path) person is not doing well in their life.
Number 4s approach love and relationships seriously, and they are unlikely to play the field. Long-term commitment is likely to play the field. Long-term commitment is likely to be the priority for Number 4s. Other people will be attracted by the stability and security offered by Number 4s, and in turn Number 4s will be attracted to vulnerable people who need more control in their lives.
Generally, Number 4s are loving, considerate and caring partners. They will be protective of their chose partners and will be faithful and dependable.
Number 4s should be careful not to dominate their partners but should allow them plenty of freedom and space to be individuals. Number 4s find it difficult to express their emotions openly to their partners, an this may be interpreted as a lack of feeling. Partners of Number 4s should accept that their mates are not prone to romantic outpourings but that they demonstrate their affection in other ways. Number 4s should make attempts to be open with their partners.
Stress in the lives of Number 4s can create difficulties if they direct their frustrations at their partners. Number 4s will often take stress home and create arguments in order to cope with their personal difficulties. Number 4s and their partners should be aware that this is a trait that exists and work out a strategy for dealing with it. It is especially important that Number 4s are honest and open about their emotions in these situations or they may jeopardize their relationships.
Number 4 parents care a great deal about their children and want the best for them. Family traditions are important to Number 4s, and they will want their children to be involved in activities. Difficulties may arise as their children become teenagers and want to explore the alternative options that life has to offer. Number 4 parents want the best for their children and will believe that they know what the right course of action. It is important that as parents, they accept their children’s right to make independent decisions whatever they may be.
The Bible is the written account of God revealing Himself to mankind. Hence the Bible starts with the words:
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Creation is the next thing after the Godhead, and the number four always refers to all that is created. Four is the number of all things that have a beginning, all things that are made, of material things and of matter itself. For examples of this we have the four cardinal directions, north, south, east and west. Four seasons of the year, spring, summer, autumn and winter. Four dimensions contain all we can experience; length, width, height and time. Note here that the fourth dimension, time, is separated from the rest in that we only have a limited movement through time compared to the other dimensions. So four is clearly shown to be the number of the natural creation and composed of three plus one.
The Fourth Verse of the Bible
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
This is the first time God looked at what He did and deemed it Good. In other words in verse four God first approves of the creation. It may also be noted that since 4 is also 2 x 2 or 2 + 2 we also have the theme of division represented here in verse four. I dividing the light from the darkness God establishes cycles, and ever changing sameness that is one of the great themes of the natural world. Thus not only does God approve of the creation for the first time in verse four, but we also have the first mention of the cycles that form the dynamic nature of the creation.
The Fourth Chapter
In chapter one of Genesis we see that the Lord commanded the creatures to multiply and bring forth abundantly. In chapter four we see that Adam and Eve had their first children.
1And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. 2And she again bare his brother Abel...
Thus the pattern of natural (as opposed to spiritual) life is established. Further we see Cain and Abel offering the fruit of the ground and the increase of the flocks to the Lord.
2...And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
Then Cain slays Abel out of jealousy, God exiles him, and then his descendants are listed to the sixth (the number of man) generation. Finally we have Adam and Eve's third son Seth, then his son Enos. Thus chapter four makes a rather pointed comment on human nature, and establishes patterns for the nations and ages to follow. Chapter four deals extensively with the creation, and how we fared after being cut off from fellowship with God.
The Fourth Toldoth Division
The fourth division begins with:
9These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 10And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
Thus we see that God looked upon the earth and saw how mankind had corrupted themselves. This division contains: Noah contrasted against the evil of the world, the ark, the flood, after the flood, the three sons of Noah. Unlike Adam, Noah obeyed the voice of the Lord.
5And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him. 6And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
The Hebrew word translated as world, means literally, the earth or the ground. There is considerable debate in Christian circles about whether the flood covered the whole globe or just the local area. Whatever the case it was certainly a judgment against the earth. With this in mind it is interesting to note that this division starts in verse nine (the number of judgment) of chapter six, and it finishes at the end of chapter nine.
The Fourth Book
The fourth book of the bible is the book of Numbers. The name of this book in the Hebrew is Bemidbar which means "the wilderness". Thus the title of the fourth book speaks of the Creation. The subject matter of the book deals with the years the people spent in the wilderness before coming into the promised land. It tells us of many of the rebellions and disobedience of the children of israel and Gods punishments. It thus is a book that primarily talks about the frailties of the creation in being able to obey God. But its central story is also a type for the change that receiving the Holy Spirit makes in a persons life. Early in the book we have the 12 spies sent into the promised land. The people hear but fear to enter in. God judges them and they all die in the wilderness, The next generation grows up and they are eager to accept the promises of God and enter the promised land. Thus we see a contrast between the early generation of unbelievers, replaced by those ready to believe.
Now 4 is made up of three and one (3+1=4), and it denotes His creative works. He is known by the things that are seen. Hence the written revelation commences with the words, "In the beginning God CREATED." Creation is therefore the next thing - the fourth thing, and the number four always has reference to all that is created. It is emphatically the number of Creation; of man in his relation to the world as created; while six is the number of man in his opposition to and independence of God. It is the number of things that have a beginning, of things that are made, of material things, and matter itself. It is the number of material completeness. Hence it is the world number, and especially the "city" number.
How does the number four symbolize the seven parables of Matthew 13?
The seven parables of Matthew 13 are divided into four and three; and while the three are spoken inside the house (verse 36) to the disciples, and reveal esoteric (or inner explanatory) truth, the four relate to exoteric truth, and concern the outward aspect of things in relation to the world, and hence were spoken outside the house (verse 1).
But it is as composed of three PLUS one that we see the most marked illustrations of the ideal significance of the number four, the "one" marking an election out of the earth.
Of the four great offerings, three were connected with blood and life; while one was meal.
The meal offering (Leviticus 2) was either baked in three ways (oven, flat-plate, or frying-pan); or not at all.
The sin offering (Leviticus 4) was offered for three classes of individuals:
The Priest that is anointed (verse 3),
The Ruler (verse 22),
The Common person (verse 27) -
or for the whole congregation as one (verse 13).
The materials of the Tabernacle were four, three being metals (gold, silver, brass); and one non-metal (wood).
The coverings of the Tabernacle were four, - three animal (goats' hair, rams' skins, and badger skins); and one vegetable (fine linen).
The ornamentations of the curtains were four, three being colors (blue, purple and scarlet); while one was a pattern (the cherubim).
The Priests and Levites were of four orders or persons: one was Aaron and his sons (Aaronites); the three were the sons of Gershon, Kohath, and Merari (Levites).
The Manna (Exodus 16:14,31) has a four-fold description, three referring to sight or appearance (small, white, round); and one to taste (sweet).
Of the four prohibited or unclean animals, three chewed the cud, but did not divide the hoof (camel, hare, and coney); while one divided the hoof, but did not chew the cud (the swine); and thus the swine stands out in marked contrast to the other three.
Of the four Houses of God (i.e., erected by Divine plan) in the earth, three were, or will be, material, viz., the Tabernacle, the Temple (Solomon's), and Ezekiel's; whilst the one is a Spiritual house (1Peter 2:5).
Four houses were built by Solomon; three were for himself, - his own house (1Kings 7:1), the house of the forest of Lebanon (verse 2), the house for Pharaoh's daughter (verse 8); while one was the House of the LORD (1Kings 6:37).
God's four sore judgments in the earth (Ezekiel 14:21): three are inanimate (the sword, famine, and pestilence); while one is animate (the noisome beast).
In Jeremiah 15:3, they are still four, but three are animate (dogs, fowls, and beasts), and one is inanimate (the sword).
Of the four kinds of flesh in 1 Corinthians 15:39, three are animals (beasts, birds, and fishes); while one is human (man).
The four glories of 1 Corinthians 15:40, 41: three are celestial and are detailed (the sun, moon, and stars); while one is not detailed and is terrestrial.
The body is sown and raised (1Corinthians 15:42-44) in three ways that relate to corruptibility:
The body is sown "in corruption, raised in incorruption";
The body is sown "in dishonor, raised in glory";
The body is sown "in weakness, raised in power";
while in the one, "it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body."
In the parable of the sower (Matthew 13) the kinds of soil are four; but three are characterized as being all alike in contrast to the one (viz., the wayside, the stony ground, and the thorns). These are all unprepared! while the one is good because it is prepared! The essence of the parable lies in this. It reduces the four soils to two, and confirms what is said of the two religions in our discussion of the number two.
In the Lost Son's welcome (Luke 15), three things were material (the robe, the ring, and the shoes); while one was moral (the kiss).
"The Seventy" went forth with a four-fold prohibition (Luke 10:4), of which three related to matters (carry no purse, no scrip, no shoes); while one related to action ("salute no man by the way").
What is God's FOUR-FOLD witness?
God's four-fold witness in the earth (Hebrews 2:4): three are impersonal (signs, wonders, and miracles), and one personal (the gifts of the Holy Spirit).
What is the OLDEST city in the world?
This is too large a subject to enter on here, but it is most significant that we get the number four in its concentrated form in connection with DAMASCUS, which is the oldest city in the world. The number of its name is 444.
The name occurs 39 times, i.e., 3 x 13, for the significance of which see under the number 13.
Where is EVE mentioned by name?
Four times "Eve" mentioned in the Bible by name: -
2 Corinthians 11:3
1 Timothy 2:13
