I saw that in the twitter review. Seems like a very old school approach to skincare. Wouldn’t be my choice but what do I know? I’m not sitting on a billion dollar empire.

She should have released a separate toner and serum instead of trying to cramp an astringent and moisturizing product into one. Personally I only use k-beauty products and won't be purchasing any Fenty Skin but I have been using Thayer's Witch Hazel (surprisingly gentle) as a first toner since it's summer then following up with a Korean hydrating toner.

I thought about buying it since I do reviews on IG but I might hold off on this launch. I might give the sunscreen a try and see how it compares to Krave's.

can you give some Cliffianas from his review?
I can come back with better cliffs and anyone can fill in any gaps if I missed anything but from what I remember off top:

As others have noted, they have fragrance. Avoid or use with caution if you are sensitive to fragrance.

The packaging is great and eco friendly.

The cleanser is pretty good and can be used in a double cleanse fashion as first and second cleanse.

The serum/toner didn’t provide much moisture but he doesn’t necessarily rely on serums for that. It’s more of an essence, Didnt really help with dark spots.

The packaging is unclear if it’s just spf or an spf moisturizer. If it’s the latter, you must use an ample amount to get sun protection as stated on the package. It does not provide much moisture and is very light.

I would have bought these in a heartbeat if they were fragrance-free. Too many dermatologists have said fragrance should be avoided, even if you think your skin can handle it.

Interested in the fat water but not if it has fragrance. I currently use muac's tea tree/cucumber toner and acwell's licorice toner. need a new sunscreen. I usually use an asian brand but its getting harder to get consistently. But if fentys has fragrance i'll just try biossance's.

Can someone explain the concept of a toning serum? Like I understand toners and serums as separate products but together as one?

I'm not her target market as I prefer no-nonsense skincare, but I appreciate that she included science backed ingredients in some of her formulations.

Still its sad that a whole dermatologist was scared to post her slightly critical review and felt like she had to declare her devotion to Rih in order to soften the blow.

I hope they come out with fragrance free products in the future, cause fragrance in skin care is something I just don't do anymore, but I would really like to try her stuff. :(
Fun fact ‘fragrance free’ just means there are masking s chemicals in a product such that it won’t have a scent. If you don’t want fragrance or masking chemicals no fragrance added is the label to look for
Do y’all think the cleanser would be okay to use? Tiara Willis (the esthetician On twitter) said that she would use that again because it’s not on the skin for that long like the other two products.
I need some more cleanser anyway.
I think she was just trying to find SOMETHING to like about it.

The moisturizer with spf is the only thing her skin liked. The spf is chemical not physical.

She also said it has the highest percentage of fragrance.
I read through the ingredients and I won’t be purchasing. I would bet anything Rihanna herself doesn’t use these products.
Where did you find the ingredients listed please?
and witch hazel as second ingredient in her toner. In 2020.
I’m so sad that I won’t be able to try any of these products. Like why rih?

What??? Fragrance and witch hazel are a big no no. Who thought those additions would be a good idea? I was very curious about the line after seeing Sean Garrette on IG raving about it but my skin is too sensitive for fragrance. I guess it’s hard to say no to Fenty especially when you’re getting paid. I just placed a $90 order from Paula’s choice this week anyway so Fenty Skin is a no for me.

She’s not a dermatologist, she’s a licensed esthetician. A dermatologist is actually a medical doctor.

I also follow these estheticians on Twitter:

Emani from Beauty Strike:

Lily / Cave of Beauty:

I read both of these Twitter threads, and I’m so glad I did. I have sensitive, acne-prone skin, so I’ll be holding off on purchasing anything for now. I really wanted to support her line.

The fenty skin website is up (if you signed up for early access). I just placed my order. They take Afterpay if anyone uses that on a regular basis.

Rihanna has done a lot with her makeup line but truth be told everyone can’t do skincare. Skincare is not lipgloss and highlighter sticks—it takes major R&D to get it right. I see some people are tiptoe-img around certain things and letting their stan-dom interfere with their objectivity. It’s not right to call people haters for saying they don’t like something. Even the reviews I’ve seen where people listed the cons were extremely gracious (like they were afraid to set some people off). Sorry for the mini rant but this always happens when a celeb/major influencer releases something. People getting personally offended Because of differing opinions on something as objective as skincare are weird

I notice Late last night some Fenty Skin Reviews have already popped up on youtube.

I thought this would be a good resource to see what some of the consensus is for some of us conscious skincare buyers.

If you see more reviews, please post the videos. The more reviews the better.

There's already a thread where reviews are shared :)

Anyway, did the people in the videos like or dislike the products?

Oh i tried searching. I didn't see it.

James Welched like it, thought it was a good offering for skincare line especially with emphasizes on the sunscreen.

I am still watching the rest.

Maybe a mod can merge it with Fenty Skincare!!!

The sunscreen moisturizer is appealing to me! I wonder though is it better for normal or sensi skin or combi... hmm!

The sunscreen does look promising. From the second reviewer who is an esthetician, the sunscreen seem to be for normal/combo skin. She did mention that there is fragrance that might aggravate sensitive skin.

What's interesting to me is that Fenty Skin is debuting with a very small, very focused set of products when Fenty Beauty's massive launch hinged on a range of foundation shades that most makeup brands ignored. Skincare is much more volatile than makeup--why didn't she release a line for combination l, oily, dry, acne, etc?

I love James Welch. He’s very educational in all of his videos. That fat water sounds great. I definitely want that one.

I’m still flabbergasted that she put fragrance in the products lol. For what? That’s probably the number one thing that you don’t do with skincare.

Witch hazel is a known irritant particularly in those with dry and/or sensitive skin. Because it’s usually paired with alcohol, it’s also very drying. It’s therefore a no-no for those with dry skin. For those with oily skin, it may seem beneficial initially but over time it can cause below surface irritation and skin barrier issues. Tbh, there are other more suitable ingredients out there and it’s not a necessary ingredient in 2020.

Rihanna said she had skin problems and I’m trying to remember when I saw that. Now if Alicia Keys said that, I would believe her. I don’t like when celebrities pretend to know my struggle. Hearing that this has fragrance lets me know that it won’t work for me. She made it for people who genetically have skin that is unbothered. I would like to repair the damage done by acne, so I’ll look elsewhere.

i am really disappointed, not gonna lie.
I was expecting products similar to Krave Beauty. But this launch feels so out of touch. People has more knowledge about skin care now, plus access to afforable korean skin care or The Ordinary.

This old and overpriced european skin care ain't it.

I hope she goes back to the drawing board because this is detrimental to Rihanna's brand in the long run.

I need some more cleanser anyway.

tbh I think that was Tiara’s way of softening the blow. You could tell she felt she had to say something positive because 1) she feels grateful to Rih and respects her and 2) she didn’t want to upset the stans even more

I’m going to sit this one out. I’m extremely allergic to fragrances, so her products will break me out and give so many unnecessary problems.

True. I read her review again and can definitely see that. It sucks that people were attacking her over how her skin reacted to the products.

I ordered the Fenty cleanser and toner. I see that CeraVe has a parallel campaign going. So I have also recently added those cleansers to my arsenal. For the remainder of the summer I'm going to rely mostly on CeraVe and use Fenty as a luxury treatment every now and then, just so I'm not regularly exposed to the potentially irritating ingredients.

I can't chance using a chemical SPF so I will stick to my current mineral based product.

Sorry but all those reviews sound a little phoney to me (all were received as PR by THE Rihanna so of course a lot of the people doing the reviews are a bit gassed). I follow quite a few of these skincare influencers on youtube/instagram and they're usually more critical than that (even with other PR items). Replace that 'Fenty' with 'Kylie' and they would have shred it to pieces most likely.

There's nothing terribly wrong with the line but these ingredients will do nothing for most people. It's skincare for people who already have good skin
