I took some molasses this week because I heard it was healthy for you but it looks like I'm allergic. It was regular molasses not black stripe.

I had a tea spoon in my tea for a couple of days.

The first day I had a little pain in my stomach but it cleared everything out so I was happy.

The second day when I took it I had the same pain, I waited a couple days then had it again and this time I was in pain for hours. My stomach hurt for 6 hours straight, I had to force myself to sleep because being awake hurt too much. Even when I woke up my stomach still hurt.

The pain went away, but my stomach started to hurt after I ate some food.

This happened for 2 days. Now it's the third day. I don't have stomach pains when I eat anymore but after I eat, 30 minutes later I start to feel nauseous like I want to be sick. This sickly feeling lasts a long time. And it feels like the food doesn't fully digest like its in my throat or at the top of my stomach - hard to explain.

Anyway what do you guys recommend to correct my gut? I am drinking kefir but that isn't helping me fast enough. I'm also drinking chamomile tea.

It's so awful because now I can't enjoy food. Everytime I eat i feel sickly.

You need to go on a "diet" that consists of anti-inflammatory foods to help repair your gut lining and give it a break. Search for Candida Diet, IBS, gut healing compliant recipes. Basically, no added sugars, no gluten but lean meats, and leafy greens instead.

Then you combine that with supplements like probiotics, digestive enzymes, and other vitamins to help repair your gut lining. Consider doing a liver cleanse (you can get a liquid cleanse at your local health store) to support your liver as it filters through those toxins.

Maybe fresh ginger? I make tea with it--eating or chewing it may be too harsh right now. Also raw honey either in tea or by the spoonful. Peppermint/mint tea also aids with stomach issues.

I've had really great results from drinking home made bone broth. I make mine using distilled water, and about 3 packs (6lbs) of chicken necks (I roast them in the toaster oven with some apple cider vinegar for a little bit beforehand) and throw them in the crock-pot on low for 18 hours. When it cools, I store it in big mason jars in the fridge. Using this method, the broth gels every time which means it's full of collagen, and nutrients that will help strengthen and repair your gut.

These supplements help your gut as well:
- L-Glutamine
- Quercetin
- Marshmallow root extract
- Probiotics and prebiotics

I'm trying to repair my gut too, so I hope this helps! :love

I would go to the doctor maybe you have a gut bacteria and you need antibiotics. In the meantime you can avoid junk food and other inflammatory foods like dairy. Incorporate fermented foods, and probiotic dairy products in your diet, I suggest you make bone broth from chicken or cattle too its great.

Cut out all bread, wheat, yogurts, anything with cornstarch, corn syrup, or artificial sweatners. Soy products as well, including ketchup and several cereals.

Eat a boiled egg and tea for breakfast, maybe a meat, but broiled or baked.

For lunch have tuna, you can have mayo, celeary and onions, but stay away from any bread. Have it with some greens, but not iceberg lettuce.

Make a juice out of celeary, apple, maybe some kale and banana. For dinner snack have an organe.

You could mix this up with with either chicken breast for lunch (although some are allergic to chicken), beef, lamb chop. Have it with some string beans, or snap peas.(I like Shoprite’s brocoli, snap peas, waterchestnuts and carrots).

Good luck.

Please see a doctor!
In the meantime....

Ethiopian Blackseed oil will help or
Oil of oregano and or
Manuka honey.
Then a probiotic.
Tons of water.

Op, I wouldn’t do anything before speaking with your doctor. You have no idea what it is and you don’t want to consume something that could make it worse.

the nausea is concerning.

@BrendaFraser @CHOPCHOP what fermented foods should I incorporate?

Kimchi/pickled radishes, sauerkraut, tempeh is usually fermented soy beans, use kefir, if you don't wanna eat yogurt, kombucha drinks, kombucha teas, miso soup/broth.

with the acv, some times I do some hot water, with a tablespoon of acv, lemon juice, cinnamon and stevia or honey. You can throw ginger in there too.

Try some chlorophyll too.

Do you have Ibs or leaky gut? Usually the gross tummy feel is the leaky gut, which is an inflammatory issue.

I ate rice with lentils, fish and vegetables.

The pain started shortly after I ate. I attribute it to the molasses because that's the only new thing in my diet.

The pain has stopped, but now I have nausea and constipation after eating. I've never had that before.

It feels like food is in my upper abdomin and just stays for hours. It's like it won't break down like it's supposed to.

yes, usually just an issue with diet.

Leaky gut syndrome: What it is, symptoms, and treatments

Usually this is the sign for me that I know i'd eating terribly. just minor restrictions, and usually I feel better.

Honestly I was eating pretty healthy until this thing. I eat lots of fruit and vegetables, fibre and protein, I drink homemade kombucha and milk kefir. I only eat organic meat i cook at home. Lots of fish.

I just had this bad reaction to the molasses and now I can't digest food. It only started this week.

Drink lots of water and rest. I’m currently drinking a lemon/ginger tea with probiotics. Or sometimes I make my own ginger tea from fresh ginger. That has helped me personally and my gut has been good for a while now. My gastritis flared up on and off all last year. I was really really stressed....beyond stressed and what I was eating didn’t help my stomach either. But I haven’t changed my diet much this year...I just love Italian food too much. Just try to incorporate some gutty foods into your diet and see a doctor. I’m sorry you’re experiencing these problems. I know the feeling.

I have the turmeric in capsule form. I take three twice a day. I am not sure about drinking it with ginger and how long it will take to feel relief but I will say you must remain consistent.

Def go to a doctor but it sounds like gall stones. The pain for hours and sitting at the top of your stomach and nausea

More information

Symptoms of a gallbladder attack
A gallbladder attack usually happens after you eat a large meal. This occurs because your body makes more bile when you eat fatty foods. You’re more likely to have an attack in the evening.

If you’ve had a gallbladder attack, you’re at higher risk of having another one. Pain from a gallbladder attack typically differs from other kinds of stomach pain. You may have:

  • sudden and sharp pain that lasts for minutes to hours
  • dull or cramping pain that worsens quickly in the upper right part of your abdomen
  • sharp pain in the middle of your abdomen, just below the breastbone
  • intense pain that makes it difficult to sit still
  • pain that doesn’t worsen or change when you move
  • abdominal tenderness
Pain from a gallbladder attack may spread from the abdomen to the:

  • back between your shoulder blades
  • right shoulder
You may also have other symptoms of a gallbladder attack, like:

  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • fever
  • chills
  • skin and eye yellowing
  • dark or tea-colored urine
  • light or clay-colored bowel movements
Eat very light until you see a doctor. The molasses my be high in fat or cholesterol causing an attack.

I wish you luck digestive pain is some of the worst cause once it starts almost nothing can stop it.

Used to happen to me. That pain is like someone taking a fork sticking it in your lower belly and twisting your intestines with it. No lactose, tea and bland baked protiens, no gluten, no milk products or by products, no soy, no corn byproducts.

Even just warm water will help. If it goes on too long, either take epsom salt as a laxitive, or castor oil. These things will clean you out, and get whatever is stuck in there out.

It will be messy, but when it’s over you’ll feel much better.

Quick update -

I had some porridge in the morning because it's important to get lots of fibre. It kind of sat on my stomach and it was only a small bowl.

I bought some enzyme vitamins. I can't say that I've noticed much of a difference. But I bought some pineapple chunks and they seem to have helped me a bit.

I also drank goats milk kefir in the morning.

I'm gonna buy some water kefir tomorrow and hopefully that helps.

I spoke to a holistic practitioner and he said my gut can return to normal in just over a week if I just eat the right foods and take my probiotics. I hope so.

I also think I discovered the real reason my gut got messed up. I took A LOT of antibiotics during the summer because I was very ill with my athsma. I learned that taking lots of antibiotics can tear away your stomach lining. I think the molasses just set it off, but the underlying cause was the antibiotics.

You might be experiencing discomfort from the high iron content in molasses. It might not be an allergy.

About a day and a half. I started by taking some ACV (Braggers, I think), anyway it’s the one with mother. This was to help balance the internal ph. Took it before bed. Then in am, tea, no coffee (I am a huge coffee drinker), and all bland food. Low acidity, to counter tummy pains. Still had mi;d pulsing pains, but not those sharp stabbing ones.

Made sure to drink a lot of water, and all low acidity foods. Baked potatoes are good also. Good luck. Really I know how that can be. I’m getting little pangs now, because I had a yogurt with my own added blueberries and took a liver cleanse....now I know what these things feel like and can guage when I need to cut back on the high acidity, gluten and lactose rich foods.

Pineapple is amazing, taste good and really helps. Those antibiotics kill the good bacteria that keep all that yeasty stuff from building up.

Don’t know if you have watermellon in your area, but it is also a GOAT fruit/vegatable. Very filling, has a lot of nutrients, and helps with dehydration.

I've been doing more reading. People say this is a lifelong condition, that I have to live with it!:cry::cry:

Has anybody here had this and cured themselves?

I invested in a Vitamix, however there is another brand, Blendtec, which you could also use. I have a Kale, banana, then generally some other fruit, be it pineapple, apples, celery, blueberries peaches, etc.

Generally have this 3-4 times a week for breakfast with a boiled egg. This gives me actual energy. For lunch or early dinner, I have a fish. Tilapia, whiting or salmon, along with frozen veggies. I like brocoli, but I often will also have snap peas with water chestnuts. Sometimes I have a baked potatoe, or make oven fried potatoe wedges with olive oil (sprinkled with garlic poweder, onion powder and paprika). Then for a later night snack for the summer I have been having lemon and cucumber sorbe. I make this in the vitamix, and it lasts. It is very refreshing, basically sugar, cucumber, lemons and ice, then freeze and enjoy as desired. Of course there are variations. Some time I alter the fish with either lamb, or beef.

Once I have gotten balanced and no longer have the pains, I will occasionally have cheesecake, or other treats. However if I feel even a small pang, I go back to a more austere diet.

It is totally a life style change. The thin is I personally have much more energy.

I also keep Amazing Grass on hand, and if I cannot make a green shake, then I mix it with 16 oz of water. This provides a nutrient rich quick and easy shake as well.

This is the the results of synthesizing a lot of info, so you can always change it up as you see fit. The other side effect is better skin.

It is not a life-long condition. I used to feel sharp stomach pains as well, I consumed Kefir that I fermented myself daily and regularly consumed chicken bone broth. I haven't had any stomach issues despite eating a lot of unhealthy food ever since lockdown lol. It's an imbalance of gut bacteria and you just need to increase the good bacteria and suppress the bad ones for a few weeks. You can do it!

The irony is I've been drinking my own milk kefir every single evening for the past 6 months. But those damn antibiotics messed up my stomach lining.

I'm gonna keep drinking it, and I will look into bone broth.
