It’s enough going on the world. These threads are for us to reminisce on great music. Every single one of these artists have made an impact. This is not stan wars. I repeat: This is not stan wars. And sunkissedbri, Miss Thang (pun intended), that mouth of yours needs a granny tapping! Keep it cute or leave!

I absolutely agree. I was speaking on the false information her goofy ass posted and apparently the girls don't like when facts are posted that challenge their bµllsh!t ass narratives. I enjoy all 3 songs and artists listed.

Oh I posted facts, the sh!t you posted was feelings. And I love how that sh!t was edited after the fact. If you b!tches don’t learn to research before running your ignorance on this here site, that sounds like a personal problem. Hence posting gifs instead of adequate responses. Goofy asses.
I said what I said!!!

Lil girl, this my last time even entertaining your goofy ass because I can't help but laugh now. You said "she wasn't a catalyst for the soundtrack"-- I stated she was exec producer and there is actual video footage corroborating that because she spoke on the artists she wanted on the soundtrack. You posted Romeo Must Die wasn't a hit film-- another lie because it actually was a hit film, the critics loved her in it as well, Joel Silver actually was going to work with her again due to it. The only factual thing your inept ass posted was first week sales and a chart position. Everything else you said was purely your own opinion/narrative. If you don't know what those words mean, get a fµck!ng dictionary.

Children need to be supervised while using the internet. These 90's/2000's born kids need something else to do in this pandemic Chile. But the bird is ignored. Take it up with God and the internet provider.

How does a thread on which song someone prefers devolve into who had a better career? All three ladies had good careers and are among the best selling female acts in R&B. All three were influential let's leave it at that and stick to the question at hand.

"brokenhearted" & "why i love you so much" are almost a tie for me, but i'm gonna give the edge to monica. i played "brokenhearted" more in the 90s but these days i connect more with "why i love you so much."

"the one i gave my heart to" was a good song but it didn't suit aaliyah's vocals or overall vibe at all. brandy would've killed that song tho

Monica- that song captured the feelings of first love so perfectly.
I remember the first time hearing that track, someone was playing it on the train and my young az just had my first heartbreak and I was swallowing lumps that entire train ride

I loved all three of the these songs, but had to go with Brokenhearted. It just does something to my heart.

Aaliyah's death really reduced the impact of her music. In the 90s, Brandy and Monica stood no chance against Aaliyah. So many people loved her music and respected her craft.
Y’all have got to stop lying on Aaliyah. While she was definitely one of the girls, she was not theee girl and that’s okay. You guys only bring negative comments upon yourselves and Aaliyah when you do this.

I voted for "Why I Love You So Much".
But the original version of "Brokenhearted" w/o Wanye hits different!

I love Aaliyah, but it’s unfair to put any of her ballads up against Brandy or Monica’s. Aaliyah was not a ballad singer. She was known for her uptempo hits which had a sound that was unprecedented and still stands the test of time today. And even though she was in the same age group as Brandy and Monica, in many ways it sort of felt like she wasn’t. She was in a lane all her own.

With that said, I love both “Brokenhearted” and “Why I Love You So Much.” It’s really a tie between the two songs. However, if I had to choose, I’d choose “Why I Love You So Much” because it still gets heavy rotation from me all these years later.

Interestingly, all three songs peaked at #9 on Billboard Hot 100.

Broken-hearted reminds me of my sophomore year of high school. Right around the age I had my lil feelings hurt by a guy for the 1st time LOL.
I used to be in my room with that song in repeat !!

All of them are great, but I listen to "Why I Love You So Much" at least three times a week.

Excuse me?! The audacity! You clearly didn't experience the 90s bc aaliyah ain't have sh!t on monica & damn sure not on brandy. Brandy was the fµck!ng sh!t in the 90s. She was the top teen r&b artist. Brandy had her own doll, multi platinum albums & her own tv show when was 15. Aaliyah wasn't selling records like brandy. Aaliyah did not have that & she doesn't sing better than brandy & monica. Y'all stay trying to canonize aaliyah. Everybody else act like they're scared to say it but imma say it. Aaliyah was not popping like that in the 90s. Period
I'll probably get scalped for this but when it comes to Aaliyah the historical revisionism is real.

Brandy RULED the 90's and Monica was always second. Though Aaliyah did have a following and great music she wasn't a huge star. Her death made her a legend.

I can't pick one as the best. They all hit deep at different points, in the same relationship, with the same dude, thankfully back then and nevermore! ( sorry, my nerd channeled poetic prose and a Raven reference).

Brandy and Monica = Incredible

Aaliyah is no for me, RIP. I was born in 1987 and experienced the 90's; she wasn't on Brandy/Monica level back then.

And it's ridiculous bc you shouldn't have to feel that way. People just can't handle the truth. I keep trying to tell mfs she wasn't that popular but they always wanna throw tantrums & sh!t  it's ridiculous how she keeps getting compared to or put above artists like beyonce, brandy etc when she wasn't as popular, talented nor did numbers like them. All they gotta do is check the soundscan from the 90s but they don't wanna do that bc the truth hurts. One time somebody got mad bc I compared aaliyah to jhene aiko

Looking back, these three were light years ahead of their time. Especially compared to these artists of today. Looking back you can really appreciate the artistry, talent, and the music they all brought to the table. And they all were out simultaneously and all successful.

I'm convinced that a lot of those people who dispute these facts weren't born yet.
