Hi guys,
I was on Flippa just cause I saw a post about someone buying a blog and I was curious about the site. So I did some digging cause well, I like numbers. Haha.

This is what I found:

There are 1,254 blogs for sale. The below mentioned list represents min page views and how many sites out of the 1,254 met that criteria. Only 28% of the sites have 1,000 page views per month. And less than 1% have over a million. 4% have over 100k.

As for Pinterest, how did you set up your board?

I copied what someone else did that had their board ranking in the SERPs for a keyword I was targeting. I didn't put much thought or effort into the setup. I wanted to see if I could get pins or boards to show up in SERPs.

My main interest in Pinterest is to see if pins would be useful for backlinks to rank pages. The only effort I make is to stuff as many keywords as possible into Pin descriptions while still having it look natural.

I followed this Youtuber and I believe this is the video where she encourages this.
Edit: I don’t know if you can use beauty when it doesn’t apply to your pin. I had to reread your post.

It looks like she's sitting around a 2% CTR for her most popular pins. I'm wondering if the CTR drops off with less popular pins.

Writing good content seems to be the key but there are times when I don't quite understand what that means because a lot of the time I go to these blogs and I can tell there's no personality behind the writing. A lot of the content seems to be cut/paste.

Good content ranks in Google and is able to monetize the traffic.

To rank in Google, content needs to match the user's search intent. If it doesn't, it won't rank. That's why all the content is the same, if it was different, it wouldn't rank.

Yeah, good content is definitely subjective.

I started studying bloggers in my niche. Not necessarily well-known influencers, but ones with a large amount of Pinterest followers and who have Mediavine ads on their site (since that's one of my goals). Some are even members of a FB group I belong to.

I notice they have a lot of how-to guides on their blog. At first I was focused on product roundups, but I'm going to balance them with more how-tos. Products are fine, but with Pinterest's focus on the ecommerce shop tab, I need to diversify my content so I don't get lost in the sauce.

It is important to try things that you see are working for other people. You want to have a variety of content/targeted keywords because that will help you figure out what works for you.

Well, the thing is that I've searched a term, visited two different websites, and one website pretty much lifted the other blog's article. I see a lot of how-tos but everyone seems to tell everyone to do the same exact thing. There's no variety.

Variety doesn't rank so it doesn't generate traffic. You also need to keep in mind that the sites might be operated by the same person.

There isn't any downside to doing a light content spin on content that you own and putting it up on another domain.

I've published 8/21 articles so far and revised 1/7 pages (with SurferSEO). I still haven't done my 7 pins or YouTube video.

Tools like Page Optimizer Pro, SuerferSEO, and Frase.io make writing content for Google easier. They all basically do correlation analysis of the sites that are ranking in the top 10 for a given keyword.

They'll then give you lists of things to include on a page you want to rank for a given keyword.

This makes writing articles easier as you'll know you need a certain word count with so many H2, H3, H4, H5 tags. X number of mentions of Y, Z, A, B, C, etc keywords. What number of words should be bolded, italicized, how many unordered lists, how many ordered lists, etc.

I've found that having checklists of things that need to be included makes the writing process easier. They're also helpful for learning.

I would say that your return on investment would be much better with one of those tools than buying content. Realistically either Page Optimizer Pro or SurferSEO combined with Frase.io. I wouldn't recommend using Frase on its own.

So when I was asking you guys about creating pins with related ads/keywords, it appears if you buy ads you can do that.

12/21 Articles written.
1/7 pages revised.
1/7 pins made.
0/1 YouTube videos.

Anyone use this website Mix

I've added pages with the same level of effort I've put into Pinterest. I don't think I've ever received traffic from Mix.

I did it for the easy backlinks, but I'm not sure that they matter.

Wow, that's a lot of articles. I feel like a slacker.

I use Medium to help with traffic. I repost articles from my blog to my Medium profile. It’s easy and free, but be sure to read the rules about affiliate links.

How does that work? You post it on your blog and then you wait a few days and then post it on Medium? You have to post the entire article, right?

Start of a new week. So how did everyone do? I only wrote one article but I did some Pins and set up Instagram. I revised the blog layout a bit and added RSS feed and Favicon. I can see why people outsource social media because it takes too long to deal with this stuff.

What's the plan for this week?
So I need to write at least 2 articles and revise one. Do more Pins and then post a few times on Instagram.

I planned to write 5 posts, but life got in the way, so I only wrote 3. I also installed Cloudflare and their APO plugin for WordPress which sped up my site.

This week I'm writing 5 posts.

I need to post more on IG, but honestly, I don't care for it much. I hate the whole algorithm thing and the fact that the lifespan of a post is so short. My main concentration is Pinterest with all other social media as an afterthought.

I'm not really feeling IG but I'll just go ahead and do it. I need to edit my three posts because I forgot the hashtags.

My niche doesn't do that well on Pinterest so that sucks but I did learn something new about the keywords from just reading someone's post randomly. It appears, and it makes sense when you think about it Pinterest looks at the order of your keywords. I just thought they looked at all of them but it may be the order. I am doing an experiment to see what happens.

So I submitted 2 requests to group boards and haven't heard from them. Ugh. One of them even had the nerve to list a follow as a requirement before you join the board. Please. If you're gonna make a request like that, you need to get back to people.

I sent in a new request to someone else I found regarding writing a guest post. I'll see how that goes.

I only got 16/21 articles done. I spent time with family over the weekend instead of writing. I have 2 articles that are half done.

4/7 pins, but I have the graphics for the other 3. I also went through my analytics and one pin was responsible for almost all my traffic. I made a list of all the similar pages and will be creating pins for them.

2/7 pages revised. My problem here was that I didn't (and still don't) have a list of the pages I want to revise. I also need to take new photos for the pages. The entire process is taking longer than I anticipated.

0/1 YouTube videos. I don't like YouTube.:cautious:

This week I'm going to try for 17 articles, 7 pins, 3 page revisions, and a YouTube video.

How many words on average are the articles all of you write?
Not really sure. My last one was 1100 words. I'm gonna try to write two more this week and they will probably be around 700 each. What's your average?

My average is about 1200 words. I read that at least 2000 words is ideal but I have trouble doing that.

I read the longer the better but that is for the sake of Google. I have a hard time believing with our attention span that people are reading long blog posts. However, I can understand why because that's what Google says you gotta do to rank.

If you have trouble doing it and can't seem to press on then don't do it. People will be able to pick up on the padding.

@Lonewolf 98 on the other hand posts 300-word articles and it doesn't seem to affect her numbers.

Word count is only important for ranking in Google.

The easiest strategy is to match the word count of the site that is ranking first for the keyword you are targeting. The more advanced strategy is to use a service that analyses search results and gives you a word count. (Page Optimizer Pro, SurferSEO, Frase.io, CognitiveSEO, Cora)

Higher word counts do better for a couple of reasons. The first is that it makes it easier for Google to determine what the page is about. The second is that it helps the page to rank for long-tail keywords.

Is anyone going to read your entire 3,000-word article? Probably not.

People will read everything under a subheading that answers a specific question or describes something in detail. Keep in mind that you're not writing for one person, you're writing for a group of people.

Don't worry about group boards. I heard Pinterest isn't prioritizing group boards anymore.

Right now my average around 1200 but my 2 most popular posts are 360 words and 515 words. They're linked to 2 of my most popular pins which happen to have trending Pinterest topics.

How many visitors did you guys get your first month?
You should expect no traffic. Maybe average less than 1 visitor per day.

A small percentage of your articles/pages will generate the vast majority of your traffic. Anyone that is starting won't have very many articles. That means fewer chances to publish an article that brings in good traffic.

I figured as much. So in this case should we just post once per week at a min and then just make sure we have at least 10 per month? I'm trying to do at least 2-3 but it is time-consuming especially when you work and have to deal with social media.

I only really seem to get traffic from Google and Bing. Pinterest doesn't bring in much for me. I must be doing something wrong.

It is either your niche, or you are not pinning enough. Pinterest is time-consuming. It takes a lot of work to get views. You need 3k pins plus. Also, you need clickable pins. I need to learn how to do infographics.

How often are you pinning?
