I am a fan of Doja Cat. The thread title isn't attacking or supporting anyone. It's just a general question to others that haven't.

I know. I didn’t mean you. I also meant it in general. If Doja is being cancelled for being so colourist these male rappers can catch the same smoke.

honestly the scandal just made me feel sad; she clearly has a lot of issues and insecurities around her identity, but that not a crime?? She hasn’t hurt anyone unlike a lot of other people in the industr, if they can still make music, why shouldn’t doja?

Oh Really

Because you can’t “cancel” people. Cancel culture is so stupid to me...

At first I was the conductor of the #AntiDoja train then I remembered she’s a Libra and all was forgiven :)

She did nothing cancel-worthy. I don’t care about any of what she did. And I like her music.

Because I genuinely didn’t give a fµck. I can see if she was calling other people racial slurs or something, but if we start cancelling everybody, there’d be no music to listen to. The only artists I stop listening to are those who are rapists/pedos or mumble rapping colorists. What Doja did was weird, but it made her look like an attention seeking weirdo more than anything. I love her music and she’s probably my favorite “mainstream” lady rapper at the moment.

it doesn't, she is part black and a majority of her fanbase is bw. If we want to be upset at someone like you're making out we should we should start with the kelanis and jhene aikos of the music industry first. those are real non black women being culture vultures.
Aren’t jhene and kehlani part black like doja? Wtf are you saying.

THIS. Doja continues to thrive not that black women care about black women but more about defeating black men. If they cared about black women, we would have a dark skin female superstar by now.

Her PR machine simply went into overdrive and turned this from a biracial woman muling for white acceptance which everyone agrees they do on LSA when they have a white mom and turned it into a black women vs. black men fight.

Now to consolidate this, she continues to feature black women when she clearly wouldn't fµck with you before. She has said she hates her hair, sang racially insensitive songs which she "supposedly" didn't know the context off and yet she continues to get a pass.

LSA even has proof that she engaged in race fetish play and somehow this is normalised as "I don't date black men".

Then again LSA defends Rihanna's colourist tendancies and black fishing cosmetics company.

Because black feminism is a lie.

For years, black women exclaimed that they were tired of light-skinned women being promoted in the industry. They exclaimed that Beyonce, Rihanna and Keri Hilson were only successful because they were light. Far too many cried that light-skinned women gave a false representation of black women. They begged for darker-toned black artists to be pushed into the mainstream.

Now when a bi-racial woman who uses black culture to tap dance for white audiences, it's "let's support because of black male rappers . . . "

For some reason, far too many only believe that her anti-black behavior only was directed at men. She would be the primary culprit in school to sh!t on black women.

Because it's dumb. We're supposed to cancel her for supposedly being into race play but not Donald Glover who admitted to getting off on it?

No.

Two wrongs don't make a right. Just because other artists are problematic doesn't justify supporting her who is another color-struck, self-hating buffoon for white audiences at large.

There needs to be an entire cultural reset, but we instead hypocritically call out problematic behavior against one artist but support another. Yet, we think we're making progress.

Just admit that you aren't truly supportive of black women's issues and choose to support degenerate, mind-numbing, devoid pop music and go.
admit you're mad doja's not bouncing up and down on your eggplant and go. So mad, so sad!

Because many of the accusations against her smelled like absolute bµllsh!t and were eventually proven to be so. Y’all love to hop on a woman as soon as you smell blood but let pedophile and rapist men, abusive men too, have whole careers.

Actually, on a discord that started on LSA i mentioned I wasn’t sure about the accusations because anytime I asked for proof I would just get “well someone said-“ or more heresay. I was called an apologist for not shutting up and believing whatever y’all say. F*ck that person lmao.

Also FYI, I knew she wouldn’t be cancelled and called it back then too.

Because I believed it when she said she was in chatrooms playing around. I used to play around in chat rooms. She apologized let’s move on and listen to her wonderful music.
I watched that livestream n she didnt apologize! That's just one issue I have with her. I sometimes visit chatroom sites when I'm bored and if there is racism by multiple casters I dont visit that chatroom again if I'm not a mod or if i am one I ban them or a mod will ban them cuz I visit decent chatrooms. She already admitted she goes in problematic rooms and STAYS in there while the incels bash her. That tells me she believes what they believe or she wouldve been banned. She pretty much admitted she is racist tree-trunk-legged b

she hasn’t ascended to the top of white pop structure yet. Give her a year and a lot of support will go away.

The thin pieces of “colorism” and “black women” will suddenly pop up.

she didn’t get wholesale canceled by BW because her situation was seen as a slight against BM.

Those are some fake fans. If i was an artist I wouldnt want ppl liking me only cuz of a gender "war"

Preach. They also act like dindu wasn't and isn't used for bw. I vividly remember reading brietbart, yahoo etc in 2012 and Trayvon's black female friend getting called dindus TONS of times. I'm not being a stooge siding with an annoying racist rapper to make bm online supposedly mad. From what I've seen they dont even care. The dusties are still being anti-black.

In terms of celebrities that need to be "cancelled", Doja is on the low end of the stick. I don't cancel mildly problematic talented people. Sorry.

She's wasn't in no racial chatroom as confirmed by other members present at the time nor has she made any proven anti black/colorist comment. She's a internet girl that was a part of many online forums and chats.

The dindu song was her juvenile attempt at reclaiming the slur after after to being called so. That's not in anyway problematic especially since it's coming from HER OWN EXPERIENCE.

Doja has done nothing but praise black women. She even gives shout out to smaller black female artists. She introduced me to Bree Runway last year and for that, she'll remain un-cancelled.

lmaoo. I thought lsa was shutting her career down? no? The only thing people cancel is these nutz!
People have short attention spans, and quite frankly are powerless. Cancel culture is for weirdos who think they have that much juice, to take money out of someone's bank account. Hilarious!

This whole conversation is funny as hell. I can’t believe that BM, who is a Jorga’s fan, has taken over this conversation and calling BW fake for not canceling Doja. Lol.

BM have never cared about canceling rappers, until it came out that Doja didn’t want them.

She did NOT say anything about black women so she was never cancelled to me.

As if our communities still aren't caping for men who are KNOWN as colourists and partake in misogynoir.

Gimme a break.

If you’re gonna cancel her, cancel the entire hip hop industry period. And since most of y’all will never do that, Doja stays.

Cancel her FOR WHAT? So she was in a room with white boys. So the hell what? All Black male artists are with nonBlack women or mixed chicks. Are y’all cancelling them? Y’all atill have not explained what it is that she exactly did wrong. I cannot stand you *******. If Doja Cat hates Black men, why do YOU, as a Black woman, care? Mind. Your. Business. That has nothing to do with Black women.

The people who tried to cancel her never supported her in the first place. So, their "exit" never really effected her numbers. Plus, Doja has a choke hold on pop stans and has a large non-black fanbase.

Anyhoo, stream Kiss Me More! It's projected to debuted at #9 on the Hot 100! Doja out here pulling main pop girl numbers!

I mean her career clearly didn’t get as big as people thought right after Say So went #1.

Her numbers and impact since the scandal aren’t THAT impressive

there was a time when she was front runner for the best new artist Grammy.

She did something stupid but it's not worth hating her for it. The situation was blown way out of proportion. And why cancel her when there are abusers in the music industry thriving?

She really didn't do anything that harmed me directly. It just appears that she did some cringey sh!t at one point in her life like many of us. Nothing worth cancelling her over.

Because she’s done nothing for me to cancel her for. I love her music.

Black men are just mad that she doesn’t date them, and I really don’t care about that.

Why haven’t we cancelled a lot of problematic people? People make excuses for their faves, (cognitive dissonance) and try to cherry pick who to hate.
