I almost got super serious. He had abandonment and mommy issues. Wasn't faithful but did teach me a ton and wined and dined me. But atlast the issues got in the way and my sister said he was gay, he did have feminine mannerisms at times but was mostly hyper masculine. I do remember this one time when he yelled ":atwitsenddon't you know there are gay people who can't come out due to their standing in the community and family not accepting"... . statement always stuck with me and not to mention it had zero to do with the conversation we were having at the time. He had some deeply serious issues.

I met most of my Haitian female friends in graduate school and none of them date Haitian men. From what I've heard, Haitian men might be good providers, but they're terrible womanizers, misogynists and they have very unhealthy relationships with money.

generally true

All I know is that the Haitian women that I know (friends, not family) who married black men outside the culture (including myself) ended up divorcing (some remarried) and the ones who married Haitian men are still going strong except one. So yes to Haitian men. There are all types. There are assholes, there are drifters, there are sweethearts, there are family men, there are blue collar, there are professionals... It's up to you to pick wisely.

As an African girl who grew up in philly, I know plenty of Haitian women and don’t know one who dates a Haitian or even wants too lol. Haitian men seem like African men if you look closer and that’s a no from me.

I know someone who married a Haitian man and as soon as he got his citizenship he flipped on her threatened to take the baby back to Haiti, the woman even lost her mind a little bit from the turmoil he put her through. They are now separated and she is doing better mentally because for a while she was seeing things that were not there, thought people were following her talking about her and putting stuff in her food.

There are similarities in terms of being generally family oriented and traditional minded and it might seem that way on the surface but there are also huge cultural differences that can sink a relationship when you get down to it. Also people seem to think that everyone from a specific ethnic group shares the same lifestyle, irrespective of social status, profession, education level, recent immigrant or born abroad, religious or not, etc. It's not realistic.

That was her first mistake right there. Stay away from men without their papers, period. That rarely ends well, regardless of ethnicity

I knew a Haitian woman who was married to an Indo Trini who drank too much and liked to put his hands on her. He was clearly a colorist too (I guess she was light-skinned enough for him to develop an interest. He put her through hell for the short time her marriage lasted)

Lol us Haitian men are awesome. Once we settle down, we are devoted to family.

There are different types of Haitian American men.

You have those dread heads vagabond lazy complete losers whose parents hide due to shame. Avoid those at all cost because the way they act they know their parents disapprove

You have the new immigrant working multiple jobs to provide for his family. The one with the strong accent. They will work to see their family happy. Highly like to be very traditional and religious.

Then you have the one who move here at a younger age, very educated and successful.

So we come in all flavors. I am bi cultural and can fit into both crowds, not religious, I am cheap as fk lol although very driven.

As long as you avoid the losers like kodak black, you will be in good hands.
Lol, SPAIF

I had a relationship with one, not easy. I think he was a narc and I still haven't healed.
I know exactly how you feel, i just got out of a toxic messy situation with my haitian ex girlfriend of two years that cheated on me twice with the same woman but (im a female) and i am still hurt.. i just been trying to let it go though, not crying and staying strong, not thinking about the situation helps to heal, have fun and enjoy life, doing things productive and playing music also being with family and friends helps as well... and she was a narc as well...player btw. Also i have dated a haitian man too, i couldn't marry a haitian man or woman thats a player..

I'm Haitian. I remember that time I talked about Haitian men with my girlfriends back home and apparently they were all resigned to being cheated on, having to accommodate outside children while soothing their partners' male ego. Yeah no. Not all Haitian men are like that but it's a cultural problem. As with any man, I personally would only accept one if they believe in feminism and they actually show it through their actions (also I can't cook and he better not expect it).

I know a few Haitian women and they all married or had children by white men.
The Haitian men that I know are all hard working, have their own business, family oriented, but also have children with white women or all very colorists. The men are dark skin but the wives are either mixed, light, or not black.

No. And I'm Haitian. 99.9% of the ones I know do not make good husbands, especially if they grew up in Haiti. It's just that the culture they grew up in doesn't foster "husband-material" men. Awful misogynistic mindset. They've been taught women do all the work and they want their wives to be their maids.

There was a woman I knew who was married to a Haitian man. A year into the marriage, she got an incurable STD, which revealed to her that he was cheating on her. Yes, these are all generalizations, but I know about 15 Haitian men in my life and none of them are good. Not one! So based on my personal experience, I have respectfully passed on them.

If he has good redeeming qualities about him then yes, if he is like the stereotype that's being described in here then BIG NO

This don't make sense regarding the culture they grew up in Haiti doesn't foster " husband material " mens when theres plenty of amazing haitian mens who literally grew up there and they are amazing husbands and fathers who do housework n etc.

All Imma say is date one and see how it works out for you just remember theres good and bad in every culture when it comes to mens, if u ever date one remember to not go into the relationship with these stereotypes about them in your head its a setup for failure
