Girl...I was agreeing with the post. Calm your tits, everything isn’t a hostile confrontation. Jesus.
Girl we halfway feel alive again. I went to the gym and ppl in there trying to get their summer bodies ready. People clearly thought this sh!t was gonna last forever the way they let their body go from many nights of Netflix and chill lol
Now we outsssideeeee

I called myself going to my first Pilates reformer class in MONTHS, my raggedy ass husband talking about, “it’s too late to try for that summer body, babe.”

I had my phone in my hand and had to STOP myself from hurling it at him. Bastard!

This plan sounds rushed

Community spread is nonexistent though. The few cases are Australian nationals returning from foreign travel. We still have COVID rampant due to community spread. They didn’t need a vaccine to eliminate community spread yet here we are still struggling. Proper lockdowns work. The US never had a proper one outside of a 2-3 week period.

The US never had a real lockdown. We left borders open but made stores adjust their hours. Covid only transmits btwn 6a-11pm. Covid is airborne but we say 6ft is enough space, lol.
Correction, the U.S. never went on lockdown. Only a few states took it serious & it was mainly the northeastern states.

It could have worked if all the contiguous states shutdown, but no and here we are with outrageous deaths & infections. America handled this very poorly & I just don't understand why more people are outraged about that.

People are willing to sacrifice their lives for making a dollar for someone else, but where l we're sheep?

OT: I meant to thank you for your thread last year: What To Do If You Are Laid Off!

It helped me get my affairs in order when I got furloughed, and eventually laid off, last year.

good looking out (in my roughest, toughest NYC accent)

I'm in Boston too and I'm still pissed about the T pulling that sh!t too. Like how y'all get money from the feds in the new package that passed, just to turn around a cut service as stuff is reopening? Then have the nerve to caution about social distancing. And they better not even think about raising fares either. e4
Yeah, that was the dumbest thing to do! These buses & trains are packed & my nerves are shot!

They are actually talking about making fare free permanently. We'll see...

Why are y’all so negative on here? It’s like anytime people are optimistic about life somewhat getting back to normal, here come fonts with constant bad news and scenarios. How long do you want these states to be closed for? They already said when the vaccine becomes readily available, states will start opening back up.
In this case it’s called being realistic. There is already a surge of new cases of the Variant from India and it can get dangerous quickly

No one thinks that its impossible to get it, but that the risk is 90% lower and the symptoms are dramaticallyr educed. Nope, I'm not masking and distancing over those tiny odds. You're free to though. Life is full of risks. I'm not lessening my quality of life over negligible risks.

The risk of contracting covid is not 90% lower. It's 90% for so-called severe cases and that only applies to older variants.

There are so many caveats to this "vaccine" and it alarms me that most people who take it aren't duly informed about it.

Why is "they are opening it for the money!!!!!" being seen as such a horrible thing?

Some of yall do realize that, financially, we can not stay locked away forever, right? People need to get back the jobs they lost, businesses need to open up again (to create those jobs). Unemployment ain't lasting forever and we damn sure can't look to the US government to help us seeing as those buffoons hemmed and hawed all last year to give us those measly stimmys.

This city has been bombed economically in 2020 and we can only go so much more longer before we have to attempt to start coming back. Food panties have seen quadruple the regular amount of people on the lines, people have had to sell belongings and move into abusive/unstable housing situations to make ends meet, etc.

We can not stay at home forever. We have to do it as safely as we can, but we have to move forward
The way some are talking, I’m wondering if they’ve found a new way to pay bills. Can paranoia, moral indignation and the virtue signaling of staying cooped up in one’s home be converted into cash money?? Like a coinstar machine or something???

All this talk of greedy businesses as if they exist separate from society and don’t employ people, don’t pay taxes that go towards city and state services, don’t provide people with a sense of purposefulness and a break from tense home situations. As if small business owners who only make enough to live decently don’t exist. As if the city’s black owned businesses, many of which were already hanging on by a string, weren’t the frogs in the economic ecosystem of how restrictions (not Covid) wiped out good hardworking people.

some of y’all better get it together. There are children and battered women who’ve died at the hands of abusive men and would still be alive if it weren’t for the disproportionate reaction of the state and city. People’s livelihoods and lives depend on returning to normalcy. For those under 70, they have a higher chance of dying from a slew of things than dying/being seriously harmed by a disease with a 99%+ survival rate.

If y’all got it like that to continue living like hermit secluded from the pandemic that never was, feel free to but please shut up about it.

Being around people has lost its appeal between Covid and YT people and cops shooting everything.
There is nothing I need out there in those streets.

If it weren’t for my kids, I’d just chill at the house indefinitely.
I went to visit my family for my birthday and I was ready to freak the fµck out at the number of people that were around me and how close they were to the point I just wanted to go home.

Today I rode the D train headed downtown and heard the words no New Yorker wants to hear "SHOW TIME!!" I wonder how the panhandlers made out when no one was on the train? Did not miss that at all.

Rockefeller Center had ladies selling churros, mangoes, arepas and corn. Are we comfortable enough yet to buy food from coolers? I'm going with nah.

Okay and I'm fine with that. I'm not afraid of covid to begin with because I'm not old and fat. It's not my issue.

Okay so they updated about the stadiums reopening... there will be two separate sections for people who are vaccinated, and people who aren’t vaccinated.... For the vaccinated people, their sections will be open at 100% capacity... for unvaccinated it will be capped at 30%... everyone still has to wear masks...

Broadway is also said to be reopening at 100% capacity as well...

This is wonderful.

Can't wait to see how all of this pans out.

I pray it ends well.

If not, at least we won't have to wait another year or two, pussyfooting around, afraid to step on Rona's toes.

Let's see what she is capable of.

Maybe nothing.

Maybe something.

But we about to find out. Yes!!!!!.

I rather sooner than later.

I can't even consider humankind still dealing with all this mess in 2023.

Just want Rona to do whatever she's gonna do so we can go - "Next!"

My sweet summer child, are you referring to the stadium segregation being wonderful? This type of state-driven coercion to get experimental vaccines (2 of which are experimental gene therapy) is not "wonderful." It’s dystopian. This is unnecessary medical segregation that creates a “have and have not” dynamic and is not medically beneficial

If it were only applied to high risk groups, like having this separation at events for the elderly, it would be more understandable. A baseball game? No.

If you're referring to Broadway, ignore me. And I agree with you on not pussyfooting around Rona. We (non-risk group and society at large) should've stopped doing that May of last year.

Just gonna drop this here.

So, if you aren’t vaccinated, you can have empty seats around yourself for the same cost of a ticket? In that case, I ain’t vaccinated!

Basically is what they are saying...
That’s so not gonna work. And what if you’re going as a group and some people aren’t vaxx’d? Will you all have to sit in the unvaccinated section? This can become really complicated.

I'm not ready for 2 reasons: Crackheads on the subway, and my bingo arms. I guess I should be excited to get my big ass back in the gym, but what if the subway crackheads are also gym crackheads? It's a lot for me.
Facts!

The crackheads are back.

Sweet summer child? LOL I like that. It sounds condescending in a not-so confrontational way.

Now to your question. To clarify, I (like all of us) am tired f the pandemic.

I really don't care who is vax and unvax or who is seated where, next to whom.

States and Fed gov can do whatever they want to try to convince folks to get shots; won't happen unless they are willing to round us up, hold us down, and force the injections.

They're not going to chance that sort of uprising and violence. It would be a bloodbath; at least here in the States.

That's as preposterous as my satirical posts on LSA when I insisted all of the infected should be rounded up and separated from the non-infected.

Also, THEY know good and dang on well, they do NOT know the long term side effects of these shots, and they would be foolish to risk issue with 100% of the population.

Hope not, but what if in 4 or 5 years, those who got the shots are having all types of medical problems and no longer able to contribute their worker-bee-dom to the economy?

Queen Bee dies if there aren't enough worker bees healthy enough to keep the kingdom going.

Nah, injecting everyone would be foolhardy. Maybe if it's the expendable workers, sure, but ALL, nahhhhh.... They'd be NUTS to take that risk.

I'm not getting the jab. Don't need it, don't want it.

God is my Protector; always has been, always will be.

The moment I were to take a jab in my arm, is the moment of affront to everything God has done to keep me throughout this life.

I'd rather die than INSULT my CREATOR.

Selah.

But everybody else, can do as they please. Open it ALL up.

Preach sis. Open it up.

Phew, I thought for a sec you might be one of those people who was pro giving the vaccinated more privileges and “punishing” those who were unvaccinated. Then I read the rest of the first post and wasn’t sure, hence my sweet shade that you caught. ;)

i took the vaccine but knew that I didn’t want the rna ones (so I ended up trading the gene therapy part for blood clots, lol). There’s no reason for people under 70 who aren’t obese to take the shot.

I’m not religious but God/nature has crafted a superior alternative to deal with coronaviruses: the immune system.

i don’t think it would get to the point of any level of govt forcing the vaccine on people. That’s where propaganda and other incentivizing tactics from them and private industry come in. Chile, if I’d seen that John legend Walmart commercial or the NYC ads telling people vaccines are safe and “we all have to do our part,” I wouldn’t gotten the vaccine because that set off alarms. Instead, I wasn’t receiving any ads in TX and was motivated by being able to travel internationally ASAP (now I’m at the point where I don’t want to support countries that discriminate against unvaccinated.)

I wish there was a campaign to tell people about all the collateral damage of the lockdowns in NYC. The nursing homes and crackheads are just the beginning. My family member got a delayed diagnosis bc of the restrictions and ginned up fear

Well, I'm not religious. Was raised Christian, but I'm Spiritual.

God, Nature, Allah, whatever anyone wants to call IT, we all attempt to refer to THAT WHICH IS, and IT IS regardless of who believes or not.

Not here to sway you because you don't sound like an atheist.

You seem to allude to knowing there is something greater than ourselves, FAR GREATER.

And the immune system given us is a gazillion years developed, tried and true.

If it's anybody's time to go, you going. No rocks to hide under.

Hiding from Rona will change nothing.

It's time to run into this battle with everything we got. Open it ALL up.

And no worries on the vax stuff. Time will tell all.

And may our CREATOR favorably be with you and yours.

I will continue to wear my mask and get the booster shot whenever I'm supposed to get it. Even though life goes on, I don't think I will ever travel maskless again.

I believe the news said that those people would have to sit in the unvaxxed section.

1. The governor's PAUSE order wasn't as restrictive as what was done in Italy.
2. The nursing home scandal that the governor is facing now has less to do with the PAUSE order and more the do with the following:
Beginning last spring, Mr. Cuomo was criticized over a state requirement that forced nursing homes to take back residents who had been hospitalized with Covid-19 once they recovered. Critics said the policy had increased the number of virus-related deaths among nursing home residents.

and
In January, New York’s attorney general said the administration had undercounted nursing home deaths by several thousand. Mr. Cuomo later acknowledged as much, blaming the lower figure on fears that the Trump administration would use the data as a political weapon.
source: What We Know About Cuomo’s Nursing Home Scandal

3. "My family member got a delayed diagnosis bc of the restrictions and ginned up fear" -While that was unfortunate, don't forget that at the worst of the pandemic, the health care system was stretched to the brink. The priority was treating COVID patients, period. COVID testing for the general population wasn't widespread until months later. Now there are protocols in place to mitigate the risks when going in for preventative care. (For example, my dentist changed office locations. Instead of seeing patients in a cubicle-like area, patients are seen in private rooms with air filtration systems. That is reassuring since one obviously has to remove one's mask for an extended period of time in order to receive any dental treatments.)

Life definitely has to go on. I feel like some fonts expect everyone to stay in their house for the next 5 years. Get vaccinated, wear your mask, and you should go on.

Life has to go on eventually.

If it’s not that dangerous anymore, I don’t see a reason to drag restrictions on.
Props to NY leaders even though they get some naysayers at times because other states opened too quick, at least NY held off for a bit
