I am an African American, and I wear my hair natural most of the time, not straightened. Other times I like to put in protective styles like braids or weaves. I prefer to choose textures that match my own. People can do wtf they want, but IMO it looks silly when a nappy head person like me wears European silky straight textures. Even super shiny synthetic hair looks ridiculous. There are ones that have less luster that looks realistic. I just want to know the thought process behind it other than it being "because they can." The whole point in wearing weaves is for protection, convenience, and versatility, in the most natural way possible.. so I thought. Black women wouldn't be a laughing stock when it came to hair if they used hair that matched their own.. plain and simple. The hair jokes wouldn't even exist.

Another issue is that most Asian or Black-owned hair supply stores, which essentially cater to the black community, do not carry black hair textures. I don't have an issue with ordering online. Still, it becomes a problem when people constantly have to go out of their way because European and other looser hair textures are readily available, and kinky is not. These types of stores sell to the majority of black people with little to no black products.

Worry about your own head.

If we worried about ourselves there wouldn't be a conversation about anything. It looks ridiculous and its messed up that no one is selling products that match black hair.. I actually love myself and want to be myself and enhance MYSELF. Unlike you frauds.

Some people definitely can't match their leave out to their weave, but if they lay their edges, it looks fine... The trend nowadays is lacefront anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter if your texture matches your style.

The first sentence alone tells me you’re not even black.

God bless you!!
LMAO what? Of course I am wow. My family is from Jamaica and Grenada and are of African descent... Black women want to get so offended at the topic of hair and weave, but if we matched our weave like WHITE women do, we wouldn't be the brunt of jokes.. These hair jokes about us wouldn't even exist.

Black women are still being fraudulent with lace fronts.. thats my point. I'm not just talking about blending, its about wearing hair that doesnt match your real texture.

BTW, I went to this black owned hair store, which triggered me to write this post in the first place. When I asked if he carried kinky straight hair, the BLACK owner said "no because it doesnt sell." He also stated that his black ex girlfriend used to wear kinky hair and how it was a "unique look".... Since when was emulating your own hair texture unique. ITS ASHAME I'm sorry. Before I went to that store, I called another and asked for kinky straight, and the man said he's never heard those two words together before. LIKE WHAT!? (He sounded middle eastern) lol Now you see the frustration? Cater to black community with beauty supply stores and dont supply black hair. ]

Are you buying human hair BSS? Why not go online where that hair really exists? Unless you cutting corners being cheap.

I usually buy online and I had a last minute trip to Orlando recently so I couldn't do that. I went around town looking for this hair and ended up seeing the bigger picture. What I need should be readily available like all the other WHITE textures are.

The stores I went to sold human hair and I went to a black owned hair boutique as previously stated

Its way deeper than store hair ya'll. No one is buying black hair textures, hence why it doesnt sell. It's not pretty enough I guess. So I cant really blame the owners.. Its the customers.. black women, who want to play dress up with other peoples hair textures.. Looking a donkey.

The black hair store owner even said, "well black women don't buy weave to match their hair, they want a different look" I get it but it looks silly IMO.. Are white women seriously buying afros? I think not.

You sound dumb. This is a public forum for people to express themselves. The whole " worry about your own..." should go across the board... but it won't because people have opinions, genius. Now run along.

OHHHH okay. I was confused for a second. Okay I see what you mean. I'm just sharing my thoughts and experiences. As far as doing something about it. I have been trying to correct my friends on the whole good hair bad hair talk.. cuz lets be real the Brazilian and euro textures are seen as good/managable hair. Kinky doesnt sell cuz its not appealing. I personally think its beautiful, but hey.

Heres a summary since people cant read

Hair store owners that serve black communities are uneducated about the needs of black hair.
Nappy edges with silky hair looks ridiculous. Kinky hair does not sell because black women want wear other peoples hair textures. Hair stores don't carry black hair textures unless its synthetic and also because black women don't buy it. People who want it have to order it since its not readily available like the white textures are. Thats basically the gist of my messages and some of y'all are mad LOL. Mad at FACTS and my opinion on having to slick nappy edges to match a fairy tale texture.

LOL.. WOW

Your original post was abrasive especially for a site like this. But I agree, besides the fact that I don’t think black women ARENT wearing hair that matches our own that’s a really unfair statement to make.

I agree! Some try to shame you for wearing natural hair when their weave don’t match their edges! I hate when they dye their hair a weird color and their weave is like 2 shades off. They leave these wigs on too long . The hair be frizzy af ends nappy af. You can tell the hair cheapThey pay for lacefronts and you can tell it’s a lace front . Just tragic af. I don’t go to the bss like I used to. Their products are damaging. If they do have anything good they jack up the price.

I disagree. I've seen many sites that stay sold out on kinky hair. It's also more expensive. I found the more natural looks to be more per bundle. Maybe BSS don't want the risk nof buying in bulk and not selling.

Maybe you saw when she said wearing hair that matches our own meaning we don’t wear hair that’s like our own texture. She was saying for example wearing straight/ wavy hair but the girls edges has a 4a texture and it’s not laid down. It looks bad and makes the weave she wearing look more obvious! It’s puffing out beyond the hair.
