Am I petty for wanting an apartment that has lighting in bedrooms perhaps a ceiling fan? These apartments are over two stacks a month and called luxury. One community doesn’t even have a pool. Would you pay that for an apartment like this? This is the second community I have seen like this.

Not petty at all. For a luxury apartment, that should be the bare minimum, I think.

These landlords and rental companies throw around that word so much nowadays. It's basically if you have running water and closet doors then it's considered luxurious :ROFLMAO:

I hate that every new apartment (at least where I live) is being labeled a luxury apartment to justify astronomical rent prices without offering any actual amenities. What happened to regular degular apartments with reasonable prices?

You're not petty. They do this in my town too. If the building is a new build it is better than old ass bungalows from the 70s. But that's not luxury! I don't even have a tub! They have ashower stall, not even tiled just a bath fitters type stall that I hate. All of this while charging 4 figures.....robbery!

FACTS! I recently came across a rental listing that was considered "luxury" because it has a refrigerator and wait for it......washer and dryer....hookups! :joy:.

Why is there no light in the bedrooms? Not even a ceiling light?

These "luxury" apartments are straight up scams most of the time. The walls are thin, the floors are shotty, the electricity is always going out. They're usually built really fast and are straight up sh!tty with terrible management. You're paying for the amenities, meanwhile the entire apartment is like 300 sq. feet. You're better off getting an older apartment and spending the extra money on redoing it the way you'd like or saving for a condo/house that'll allow you to do exactly what you want.

I live in a luxury apt. I don't have a light in my room. I'm fine with it. I have 2 lamps (one with a color-changing lightbulb!) so I don't care. I didn't even notice until I moved in because it such a small thing that does not matter.

When I purchased my condo, the bedrooms didn't have light fixtures. Pissed me off. So I've had lamps in them.

When I can afford to do so this year, I will get ceiling fans/lights installed in both bedrooms.

My upstairs hallway, living and dining rooms already have ceiling fans.

I don't get this trend of not installing pre-existing lighting. Really stupid.

Yes! My current "luxury" apartment has a ceiling fan in the bedroom but no light. I don't understand how they build apartments no lights. I hate having to buy lamps.

The real issue here is that the housing market has reached a place where you are questioning if it is reasonable to want light fixtures in a "luxury" building.

Those used to just be standard things that came with an apartment.

Pretty soon walls, a ceiling and a door are going to be considered luxuries.

Or people choose what matters to them. Was I supposed to pass up this apt (1300+ sqft, pool, dishwasher, in house laundry, Amazon Hub in the lobby, fitness center...) just because 1 room didn't have lights? When I own lamps? I swear y'all be trippin'!

In my last "luxury" apartment, there were only light fixtures in the bathrooms, kitchen, and dining room...

Now I have ceiling lights and room fans and my ass has been acting brand new all year.

No ceiling lights. That’s what I meant. No ceiling lights in the bedrooms.

They pretty much figured the luxury is not to live in the ghetto lmaoo. I have a door man, pool and other amenities and they never called it a luxury building.
Where my grandmother lives the rent is higher and they don’t even have a security guard stationed in each building, no balconies, no dish washers, no pool, the laundry rooms are small and ugly and it’s 1700 for a studio and then call it“luxury”. It’s a marketing scheme.

That's one reason why I always say I live in a "wannabe luxury apt" lol. It's nice aside from that and as a renter, I didn't think I'd be living here for very long, yet here I am years later smh. If you're planning on living there for more than a year or so, I'd say it isn't worth it.

They want everyone to agree that their corner-cutting and penny-pinching is luxury and standard. Fuckem. Just like apple and their portless phones.

lol @ "tiddy lights"

one of my previous apartments didn't have a ceiling light fixture in the bedroom and I was so confusion. So now it's just another detail that is non-negotiable for me.

I feel you on that. I'm looking for my first apartment and they are hella expensive in Charlotte, yet don't offer anything. I'm seeing apartments for $1100 with old ass kitchens, no counter space, outdating bathrooms, no amenities, NADA!!! It is so frustrating.

I was paying $1900 in the DMV and had no overhead lights but in the kitchen and bathroom. I had to make a late run to Target so I wouldn’t be sitting in the dark in my bedroom the first night. I moved during the summer when the rent was the highest.

OMG I get free porno every night -- because the walls are mad thin! I had to pay 800 to move to a top floor unit because my last apt had a family over me that never sat down! I can't wait to buy a home. My stepmother already lost my first house so I have to start from scratch to get another.

I saw some amazing bargains there 10 years ago. But it has exploded in price.

Theyre not even making whole bedrooms in my city and theyre separating space and still calling them one bedrooms.

Where I'm at this would be considered "luxury" simply because of the location and the fact that there's a rooftop.
vive-seattle-wa-an-open-one-bedroom-unit-with-sliding-do.jpg

- This would literally cost 1500+ bucks a month not including utilities.

- No in unit wash machine. Maybe 7 washers for the entire building

-

- The room would literally be windowless and no bedroom light so the space can't even be used during the day because it gets no nature light and no light fixtures

- no normal bedroom door

- You wouldnt be able to fit a grown up sized mattress without it being a fire hazard bc the heater is located

- Only bathroom would be in the small ass "bedroom" so guests gptta go in ur room

ALSO... A few other states do the same thing. A normal (with a door and everything) one bedroom in my city would probably cost 1700. The developers in my city build units like this so they're not responsible with making sure all bedrooms have windows and are up to code.
