Love threads like this. Personally, I only went to Starbucks several times a year. Typically during the holidays when Pumpkin Spice is available. Their coffee is criminally overrated. heck McDonald's is better.

I don't drink coffee anymore, but when I did, I hated McDonald's coffee. It smelled like ass to me, lolI. Dunkin Donuts was nasty, too watered down. I went there and got a regular coffe, and I drank some and it was weak. I liked my coffee semi strong. It was watered down. So I asked that lady to make more, and it was the same way. Haven't been back since, lol. I hated weak coffee, UGH!. Starbucks was alright, too expensive. I loved Quick Trip (gas stantion) and Sprouts, lol, oh and from bagel shops . I stopped using Starbucks a long time ago.

Ima have to check this one the next time I’m over there.
I went there this weekend. A nice atmosphere and a nice selection of drinks. Also you need to come back at night for the different entertainment that they have. Also in that area there are a few black owned shops. Overall the area is inviting.

Did the Tree Top African Cafe Toronto ever open up? There was some chatter about 7 years of red tape getting in the way of formally opening. What's the deal with the Tree Top African Café on Dundas West? I know thats 6 hours away from you though.

The East Africa Restaurant is Ethiopian and may have a good cup

The Cafe 5 Juliet 's info is in French. My French is far too rusty to translate. I think it’s black and I think it sells coffee- I don’t have a website but there is a google page and yelp

do you guys know any black owned coffee shops in canada (especially montreal)?

I went through the list and one particular coffee shop that I had visited wasn’t on there.

This shop is in a black neighborhood, African themed, poetry readings, backyard yoga, incense, black staff and all of that.

I did some digging and the owner is very white... LOL!!!

Can you post it so we know to avoid it :ROFLMAO::sneaky:

These coffee stores need to become chains. This is the main reason why black people shop black. Not everyone has time to go across town before work to go to these places with only one or two locations.

They need access to capital to scale up. Thats what keeps a lot of our businesses small, especially the non-tech/stem ones.

Thanks.

This begs the question, for those who do not consider Biracials as Black would you patronize their business OR are they off limits as well?:eyes:

Alright Y'all I went to the Bay Area a while back and I visited two coffee shops on this list while there.

Cafe Dejena:
The service was friendly, but distant if that makes sense. I only ordered a latte and pastries don't expect Starbucks sizes. A large is in maybe an 8 oz cup with a double shot (6 oz), and the rest is the milk of your choice. Honestly, I think this is more of a place to get lunch or an early dinner. (Closes at 5 pm).

Red Bay Cafe: I loved this place a wonderful environment. Bob Marley and Lauryn Hill playing in the background. I went in the summer, so the facts that the friendly barista told me are fuzzy, but I think the roastery has been open for a couple of years and the cafe opened Winter of 2017. Also, both of these places close at 5 pm I don't know if that's because they're newer businesses or it's normal for the area.

There is a new Ethiopian restaurant in SoCal called GS Cafe--located Covina it's out of the way for those who live in LA or OC, but if you're ever in the area check it out. Colonizers love it.

I was able to drag my friends there a few weeks ago we're all black in case anyone is wondering since this is LSA. Anyway it was a hit I'll definetely go back. It's a family business so it's all hands on deck Mama is in the back cooking, the two sisters are waitresses, and the son is the bus boy. They also have a little section of the cafe where they sale traditional wares.

tea pot brew in the south loop(chicago). I don’t know about their coffee but they have good tea, pastries and soups.

there is a new one in the Roosevelt’s collection but I forgot the name of it. It’s also in the south loop.
