A few weeks ago I arrived home at like 11pm and a cat followed me to my front door step. It looked hungry. I fed it some turkey meat, a bowl of water, and some milk. Not knowing that can't can't handle milk, I woke up to cat poop on my doorstep

He has not left my property since. He does go to my neighbors house when the sun is directly hitting my yard so the kids there put a collar on it and placed food/bed outside. However, he still likes to come my way.

He walks up to people walking on the sidewalk and lets anyone pet him and pick him up. However, if I call for him, he comes running. He's there when I wake up every morning and is waiting for me when I get back home.

I cannot have him inside because one of my dog salivates and growls when he seems him. I've asked around and no one wants a cat. my neighbors don't want him inside their house either. I do let him inside my front room when my dogs are in the back, but i'll send him back outside when I close the door.

i don't know what I should do. my mom told me to call the pound but I know that they will probably go to sleep. he has shown no sign of being a feral cat. in fact, i'm sure he was a house cat, especially because he places his little paws inside my house in order to prevent me from being able to close the door.

i will post a pic later. i have some, but i don't need LA seeing my front yard or judging any particle of dust some fonts may see when they magnify any picture that i post x100. i'll take a pic of him chilling on my grass...then you know LSA will talk about my grass and say i can't afford yard maintenance

i meant to say the pound will put it to sleep...i've asked around and no one wants him. our neighbors two blocks over are also dealing with a cat that has adopted the entire neighborhood.

That is so precious! When animals adopt humans, its a serious, lifelong relationship! LOL

It wouldn't hurt to call the local shelter and make sure someone hasn't reported a cat matching its description as being lost or missing. Just in case...

Post some pics of your new addition...:psmile:

There are a lot of no kill cat shelters. You might want to do a web search to see if there is one in your area.

i have a rot/chihuahua mix and some mutt that i adopted from an organization in tijuana/san diego. they take the dogs border patrol confiscates from people trying to sneak them into the united states and nurse them to health. people buy them at the border for like $20 bucks...it's actually sad..if the line to cross back into the united states is long, you won't miss the cages full of puppies that are days old. some people know to hide them, but if they don't, or if border patrol decides to search their car, they will be taken and picked up by the organization. they are then adopted out when they know the dogs are diseases free. my friend got her pug through them as well.

i took the mutt out the other day and he did his usual salivating and growling. he was inches from the cats face. the cat just looked at it and put his paw up to touch my dog. when he touched him, my dag backed all the way up lol.

Dogs need time to adjust to cats, tbh. If you make it clear he can't go around growling at the cat, he'll lay off after a while. The ASPCA has good info on that kind of thing. It's common for dogs who've never lived with a cat to be that way. They may or may not be best friends, but he will tolerate the kitten either way.

If the cat latched onto you, I would honestly consider keeping it. The pound will put them to sleep within 48 (or 72) hours of you dropping it off. They will either gas them (like on some Holocaust type stuff) or give them the cocktail. If you decide you don't want to keep it, I'd look up no-kill shelters and adoption agencies.

Bring it to the vet to get shots. Buy food, litter and a litter box, and tell the dog to get over it. Y'all were destined to be together.

Welcome home, kitty.

Awww...me too. Only, I have 7!!! A momma cat and her 6 kittens.

The momma cat hisses at me sometimes; but, I put the food down and get the hell out of the way - but looking at the kittens play and chase each other relaxes me :)

Put a picture in your local paper and maybe post some flyers around your neighborhood. Maybe someone is searching for this cat?

Please try to keep him. They say it's pretty special when an animal chooses you as their human. They are intuitive that way, like they are drawn to people that they know will care for them.
